A chemical is fine as long as it doesn't damage the decals and stripping on the boat. A little elbow grease may be in order though. Thanks

The hull could use a little TLC as well. Anyone know how I can go about cleaning the aluminum without damaging the original decals on the boat. I know of a couple acidic products, but I was looking for something less corrosive.

So, to date I have re-carpeted every panel each panel had to be removed because they were carpeted individually. I had a couple of old graphs laying around I mounted. Added some flotation foam that was used for an exterior building at my job. The foam came in handy during a major flood we had in...

Now the fun began. The tear down process was interesting to say the least. The only wood in the boat were the front and rear decks. The sides and floor were metal. The seat box was in five pieces.

All carpet was funky and mice had made it their palace.

This is not a total conversion. Its more of a refurbishing. I really wanted to post a few pics in case anyone came across one of these and was curious of how well they were built. This boat was made by a company called Rivertrail. They are no longer in business and its a shame because this seems...

Stick Steering - Need real world pics not advertisements

I'm not quite sure if this does you any good or not but here's my .02. I previously owned an 83 1544 Duracraft with a stick-steer set up. I was running a 35 HP Evinrude. 1) Is the "stick" itself easily removable and what determines its length? The "stick" was easily removable, as it was...

Looking good. What type of carpet did you use?

Newbie Mod 1983 Stick Steer Duracraft 16

Looking at what I had, I wanted to extend the front deck which can be a little tricky with a SS boat. I moved the helm to the right just off center. Moved the trolling battery up fron, along with the 2 bank charger. Mocked the deck and hatches. I used 2x2 for the majority of the framing. I hope...

Newbie Mod 1983 Stick Steer Duracraft 16

So I started by ripping the carpet off and geeting the deck as clean as I could. Didn't show final pics after vaccumed etc. Im not going to paint because I dont have the facilities. That would be the next mod. BTW, never really had any experiece with wood, tin, so any suggestions would be great!
