Blind sealed rivit is the way I would go, unless you can get someone to TIG weld it. You only need to access from the outside that way.

I didn't have any luck with the Harbor Freight version of the rod... I think it had to do with too small of a torch and the rest of the boat acting as a heat sink. Anyways, how big is the hole? Blind rivet with steel mandrel and 3m gooped around should fix anything 3/16 or so.

jon boat drain plug tube bent would this replacment work?

Its not ideal, but it CAN work if done right. I've got one on my boat. Machine screws and washers and nuts.

    New member and bad luck

So, for now I will be happy just to go fish. I got the low compression 9.5 running ( it actually runs pretty good and its for "under 10 hp" lakes I want to duck hunt ) and I bought a Suzuki DT15 local for cheap that runs good now too. The 15 might be a little oversize, but I think the hole...

9.9 Merc low RPM AT WOT

Well good luck. I went with a 1986 DT15 suzuki I found local for cheap and it'll get my boat and gear up to 21 mph WOT. Haven't tried it with two people, and I still need to jack it up and adjust the tilt. Sounds like you are making the right choice going bigger. =D>

9.9 Merc low RPM AT WOT

Not an expert opinion, but your speeds sound reasonable for the motor and boat setup you have. I wasn't getting my little 12 footer that fast with just me and a 9.5 RPM wise, how are you measuring? Is it reliable? Is the anti-vent plate flush with the bottom of the boat?

    9.9 gamefisher starting issue

Hmm. Thats an odd one. Where you at? Fill in your profile and maybe someone is near that can help.... If you have spark (at the right time), fuel in the cylinder, good compression, and exhaust isn't blocked, you should get ignition. Whats the condition of the coils? Cracked? Are they set...

Did you check the woodruff key on the crankshaft under the flywheel? Thats my first thought...

    12 ft Gregor restore project

Is there a manufacturers plate on the transom clamp section of the motor? If so, you can look it up or post it here and someone can help you figure it out. If not there, then look for stamped numbers on the block or a freeze plug/welch plug on the motor.
