While PFD's are important when the weather and/or vessel requires the use. It's just as important that people learn to swim to lessen the degree of panic. PFD's can fail and not all being used are self righting.

If you got time you might want to check out the state routes to bypass the tolls. Driving a semi if I had time I would always run the state routes to bypass the ill tollways to save on operating expenses. It's a good way to see the country again by getting off the interstates.

Taken care of older pfd's are great. Mine from the early 90's still in good condition, pull it out a couple of times of years to wear while fishing. Good conversation piece.

If you have one of the older plastic fuel tank, make sure to open the vent. If the vent won't open, make sure the fuel cap is tight then slightly loosen the fuel cap.
