    Convert to tiller steer?

Piece of cake to do... Contact these folks with your model number and they will send you what you need....or look on ebay.... I did this to a '72 jonny 40hp. I used a early 60's tiller handle I picked up off e-bay...Bolted right up.... https://www.twincityoutboard.com/

I run a 1648 with a 20 inch transom Crestliner jon boat. '78 35hp Jonny long shaft tiller. Mounted on a CMC 130 tilt & trim plate with @ 7inches of setback... Motor sits 2.5 inches higher off the transom. Running 13 pitch...Runs awsome..(motor pulls 5250 rpms).. The jon luvs the trim helps...

    inboard jet boats

I'm not familure with a scott pump. Is that a mixed flow pump then? Or an axle flow pump? Split bowl like a Dominator / American Turbine ?? Shouldered wear ring? You do have trimable nozzle then?.. Is that similar to a place then?? Sorry for all the questions Several people around here run the...

    inboard jet boats

montanaman I was just messing with you.. But I do like your center consel...It would be nice if place diverter would make a trimable nozzle for those sport jets.. That would really help with the wetted surface.... Eagle does but tin cans with jets that haul quads, but they do build a mean race...

can i get in trouble for this?

Here's a thought for you.. I took a 35 Jonny and re decaled it to a 25 hp.. My jon is rated for a 35 hp. My reason for doing this was to mess with my buddies who run 25hp mercs.. They scratch there heads and can't figure out what I did to my vintage 25 to make it run so well..I had the local...

What do I need to add power tilt/trim to my rig?

Actually I am surprised that Place Diverter doesn't make a diverter for the outboard jets. (Maybe it's not enough demand)?? Trimming a outboard jet using the stock outboard trim is going to be basicly worthless. You need to trim the nozzle like on a real jet boat not the power head. On a jetboat...

    1985 johnson 15hp

I think you need to look real close at your kill button and follow the wires carefully. It sounds to me you might have one of these wires chafed and it is shorting your ingintion out. Since this motor uses electronic ignition it will either work or it won't. From what you have described I would...

    motor shaft

Your thinking is correct.. The easiest way to tell what you have is if you have one of these 5 inch exhaust housing extentions bolted on. Pic below is a 5 inch extention, 2nd pic is the 5 inch extension bolted onto the exhaust housing. If this is the case then you can do as I described above. If...

    motor shaft

The shift rod you currently have will work just fine. You just need to remove the 5 inch brass shift shaft extention and then install a short shaft shift shaft extention. The pic below shows a short shaft shift shaft extention. You can see it clearly still mounted on the shift shaft.

    motor shaft

This is a very simple procedure to convert a long shaft to short shaft or vis versa. First thing you do is {standing be hind the motor} on the right side of the exhaust leg you will see a little oval shaped cover with 2 screws holding it on. Remove this cover. When you look inside you will your...

New Project. But What is It?

It sure looks like a mid 40's 3.6 hp Scott Atwater. The throttle slide and pointed tiller handle are Scott Atwater give aways. The tanks styling is another give way. Scott's generally had the serial number following the model number. Does this have a left hand rotation on the prop?

Anybody ever rebuilt a lower unit?

Pretty straight forward. Look your clutch dogs over for wear. Look the gears over for a even wear pattern. Clean everything with diesel fuel in a shallow pan if you don't have acess to a parts washer. Clean the sealing surfaces well and use new seals to re-install. I tore this lower down after...
