What is a SS Fastener... a stainless bolt?

I just picked up a used 1648 jon boat yesterday. The owner kept his motor as I don't need one to fish in a 100-acre farm pond. Looks like the motor mount holes are 3/8"..... how's the best way to seal them up? The two lower holes are pretty close to the water. Carriage bolts and grind them...

What I look at is which brand will sell best in my area when I get ready to let it go. It is Tracker in my state... The two best days to own a boat..... the day you buy it and the day you sell it. :)

I would NEVER buy a boat that has been patched on the hull.

What about buying the controls and cables for a Mercury 25? eBay?

Thanks so much for all the ideas and especially the link. This will give me time and money to build a better boat than I could afford from the beginning. A few parts each month instead of financing an expensive rig. :)

If i were to buy a 1648 aluminum boat.... (to save money now) could I add a console and steering wheel later? Yes, I know about the upgraded motor and controls. I have a tiller motor and can use it for a while. Have any of you done it? Thanks

Tread plate aluminum... it will last longer than the boat. Rivet it down to the ribs.

I sold my 36" wide jon boat and have been searching for a 48" bottom boat. They sure are hard to find these days, and very expensive too.

So hard to find a place central to everyone.

I've replaced the tongue in several trailers to the length that fit the boat properly.

The Grizzly boats are really nice looking rigs.

I have a private place I fish in Alabama that is loaded with huge bluegills, and big bass too. If any of you guys want to join me one day, it's all free and won't cost you a dime. How about a trip trade? I love smallmouth bass fishing too. Have tin boat.... will travel.

I've owned boats for 50-years now and never owned an all-welded boat. I've enjoyed many rivet boats with good success. Not sure that I want to spend 3 or 4 times as much for a welded boat at my age. I can afford one, but who knows how long I will live. What's your opinion on rivet vs. welded...
