Outfitting new boat with electronics for river fishing

Great input folks and exactly what I am hoping to understand from your combined experiences. Here is what I am settling into: Garmin-ECHOMAP-Ultra-126sv-GN-with-GT56 Transducer at the console, xdcr mounted on the transom Garmin 106SV display at the bow running through the US2 on the MK...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

Trailer looked stout but I know where corners are cut and will definitely give it a look over. I can imagine if they would bind as you close them if things were out of whack. I'll consider that before purchasing the Brocraft and see what is involved with other mounts. Hoping to shorten the...

Outfitting new boat with electronics for river fishing

Gents, All good stuff and really appreciate it. That transducer is an 83/200 and tells me it is sufficient for at the bow, but that will only be good for depth indication if the TM is out. FuzzyGrubb, appreciate your perspective on the river and that is the kind of info I was hoping to get...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

It's definitely aluminum and they're still built by Bear. Impressive looking trailer and I am sure I'll appreciate not having to paint it to maintain it. I located some mounts from Brocract for the tube feet on the Bimini that I think will attach into that 1/4" groove. Then they angle up to...

Outfitting new boat with electronics for river fishing

So, I have done a good bit of research. A lot. I understand what the different frequencies do, how they work, why they do what they do, etc. But I am trying to take a minimalist approach to the hardware (not afraid to buy once cry once) and features that I am going to use on this new G3 18CCJ...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

Thanks all, pretty excited as I have been thinking about this since the start of COVID and probably should have pulled the trigger sooner. Will still get time on the water with boys who haven't ditched their dad officially as of yet. Appears I'll have at least 5" of length to spare in the...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

Well, I did it. Should be all put together by the end of the month. Anyone know if a 45" shaft length on the 36V Ultrex is sufficient for the 18CCJ? Don't want to find out that I should have gone 52" and want to err on the side of not being too long. The shallow rivers I'll be running would not...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

The 20K was the difference between the 20 CCJ DLX and a Rock Proof. Just measured the actual depth of my garage and I am at 21'5". 18 CCJ on their website show's 23'2' while the 17 CCJ is 21'2". I don't think the 17 is going to work for me otherwise and not wanting to go smaller for it to fit...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

So, just told the wife this is happening. Kind of already gave her a clue but now it's official. If I plan on taking advantage of the deals going on now with financing and extended motor warranty on the Yamaha with G3, I have to act now. I like those RockProof boats (a lot) and I am sure that...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

Thanks FuzzyGrub! That does help a lot. I am a little torn with overall weight gain, and weight distribution. Lithium batteries mounted under the console may only help a little with overall weight split front to back. Doubt I want to consider mounting lead-acids further forward in one of the...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

Folks, All great advice and insight; really appreciate the feedback. Here is what I discovered in the last month or so. Stopped in at Towne Marine in Bloomsburg and talked with Carl (Karl?). Looked at the 18 CCJ DLX and I like the looks of that boat. Really impressed with the size but the draft...

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

New guy here and thanks to all in advance. Trying to get educated on what I don't know....which is a lot. Been fishing smaller rivers here in Central PA (Juniata and Susquehanna) with my buddy on his Tracker Pro 17 with a 60/40 Merc jet. I'm not getting any younger and I don't want to wait...
