Help with Ward Sea King 12 ft.

id power wash, get a cheap rotary disc sander with 330 grit, TSP powder clean, rinse. Parker Duck Boat primer (best imo). It may appear watery but goes on thick. 2 coats of paint. After rivet inspection and maybe have someone that aluminum weld touch up any spots or tears. Wish you got the...

    Float pods

Lowrider, Unless i missed it, have you had that boat in the water yet and how is it? Curious to how stable or tippy feeling. Looking for a 12ft'er for one row only 400ac lake and few other 400ac or less lake gas and electric only. I had an Alweld 1242V and it was super stable, but thats a...

Anyone ever try hand crank trolling motor

I bet we see more changes to electric only lakes and getting away from gas. Someone said they went to a lake (Indiana or Ohio) and said there was a sign for electric only with "50lbs max thrust". With E propulsions and few others on the market now are impressive. Mercury and Yamaha on coming...

Anyone ever try hand crank trolling motor

Has anyone ever tried any of these transom mounted, hand crank trolling motors? We got a NO MOTOR (gas/electric) lake in the area. Wondering how well they do. I did see one has a history of breaking. I got a bad back and hip, still paying for the recent trip of rowing. We got Millenium seats...

    Eth in Non-Eth gas??

i have to disagree you'll be fine with regular gas. My dads buddy is a husqvarna, kymco atv, simplicity dealer. He will not cover any warranty work if regular gas was used for any internal problem. Users of regular gas is the source for most internal repairs. I always run my mowers dry in the...

    seat base? steel or aluminum

Does aluminum or steel matter for seat bases on aluminum boat? If I get a threaded version can I use a regular pin style in it as well? Just looking at the 7x7 bases.

    14ft Welded Jon

Alweld or Weldbilt. Weldbilt will be cheaper. Theyll make you anything .80/.100 gauge. Check out backwoodslanding .com upper left corner click on boat sizes and look at all the photos. I would get the 1442. I was going to get a weldbilt recently but found a new leftover alweld 1242 mod v dirt...

    star/smokercraft alaskan 12 TL

thanks. Narrowing my list down! i got a half dozen electric and one 9.9 lakes up 50 to 400 acres by my hunting camp and a 3700 acre lake near home. Ill likely end up with a alweld/weldbilt mod v 1248, 1442 and most likely 1448 with 20 inch transom.

    star/smokercraft alaskan 12 TL

Has anyone here ever owned or ridden in a starcraft / smokercraft alaskan 12 TL? Has 56in transom width and 63in beam, 24in sides. Curious to how stable it is with standing and side to side moving. Neat looking little boat and found some online photos...

    Tempress seat options....

I was at cabelas looking at seats and used a kayak milk crate to place the seats on to give them a try. Did not like any of the seats. Usually too short of seat bottom. The tempress seats i tried have NO support to the seat edge. The seat base and support stopped about 4 to 6 inches from the...

    alweld 1242 mod v, thoughts/?'s

I recently came across an alweld 1242V. Im really impressed with this boat. Its built like a tank and looks way bigger than any other 12 footer out there. It looked like a 14ft until i measured it. However the weight limits are 390 person and 550 total and 25hp rated. I would primarily use...

Show me your cooler setups in your boats

fish basket is common here in Ohio. Most people cut and add a pool noodle inside the top of the basket to keep it afloat. I transfer my fish to a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Then from a cooler in my vehicle I keep a frozen reusable food container (liter or larger) of ice and dump on the fish...
