    Florida version of jon boat

Yea, im about an hour and a half south of amelia island. The surf has been good lately but i don't think it is ever big enough. Did you try any saltwater fishing while you down here, the flounder, trout, and redfish have been biting real good latetly. heres a fish i caught the other day, exactly...

    Gas Tanks....

get rid of it unless you have a real good fuel filter. It may not look like it but old tanks like that almost are always dropping small specks of rust into your gas. I learned this when i cleaned my carb and found lots of rust sludge at the bottom of my float. Plastic is cheap and effective.

Dealing with large boat wakes and swells with jon boat

anchoring is where i get confused, i was under the imprssion that by having some slack in the line it would allow the bow to rise and fall with the wave. to me it seems that by having a tight anchor line i would be more susceptable to having the bow being pulled under the wave if the anchor...

Dealing with large boat wakes and swells with jon boat

I'm not to worried about wind chop since i usually check the weather before i go and pick my days wisely. My main issue is the waves, i have seen giant yahts go by which throw out about a 2-3 foot wave that tempts me to grab my surfboard. I usually head straight into them or if possible dip...

Dealing with large boat wakes and swells with jon boat

I should start off my post by saying that i love this site and have been looking for something for aluminum boats for years. My problem is that unlike most people on this MB i am a saltwater fisherman. I fish the flats along the intercoastal and sometimes the inlets around st augustine florida...

    Florida version of jon boat

it's a transom mount motor so i had to turn the control head around in order to mount it to the front. All i did then was put a small piece of wood to make the side of the boat where it clamped even and then screwed it on. It works good where i fish but if you fish around a lot of obstructions...

i carpeted the front bench, in order to make it look good and be easy to remove later i screwed a 1/8 inch piece pf plywood down and then glued the carpet to that. It looks much better that way. I did no extra strenghting to the font bench since it was already very solid.

    My Project.

yes you can have them hooked to the same battery with no problems. I wouldn't get the bass pro shop trolling motor because it is more expensive than the minn kota version that you can get at any walmart. The minn kota or motor guide are considered the best and have been around the longest. I...

    My Project.

i have had about 300 lbs on the deck at one time with no issues. plan out what you want under the deck before you drill or cut anything. My first big hatch contains the anchor, line, life jackets, and TM battery, under the first round hatch is the cooler bait well which is caulked into the wood...

    My Project.

i have the exact same boat as you only older. the best way i found to build the deck with stability in mind is to brace it so that the deck lays on top of the middle seat and then fits right under the lip of the front seat. this gives you a level deck and allows adeqaute storage underneath. With...

    Florida version of jon boat

i supported the deck with 2 2x4's that are braced into the front and middle seat. It is actually very sturdy. The deck is a little less than a 1/2 inch thick but i covered it with fiberglass for extra strenght and to water proof it. For flats fishing you want the least amount of weight added...

Hi guys, i live in st augustine fl and am proud to fish out of a tin boat. My boat is set up for inshore and flats fishing. It has a front deck with multiple hatches and a built in livewell. Here are some pictures of the conversion. Bought the boat and trailer for $200 but it sure was ugly. I...
