    Are Newer Evinrude 9.9's stronger

My build is on the site, but it’s a heavier all weld Tracker 1648. I ended up going with a 1990 Evinride 9.9 and the boat ran 12 mph with two guys and gear. I put a 15 hp carb on it and picked up 5 mph with no other modifications. I’m good with 17 mph on that boat. May add a stainless prop and...

    Are Newer Evinrude 9.9's stronger

The engine block on Evinrude 9.9's are 13.2 cubic inches up to 1992, then they went to 15.6 cubic inches from 1993 on. Does this mean the later 2 stroke motors make more power? Looking to tweak a 9.9 to as close to 15 hp as possible and wondering if starting with a 1993 model year or newer...

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 Build

Man, you are bringing back some bad memories...lol. I ended up using a drywall type hand saw and it wasn't too bad. I just cut small squares maybe 4x4 or so and pulled them out, ripping the back of the square free. It made the least amount of mess and wasn't too bad.

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 Build

I don't recall if I actually put it on a scale, think I did, but water is very heavy. I was putting the water logged foam into those heavy duty green plastic trash bags and had to keep grabbing new bags so they wouldn't break from the weight. If the foam is water logged, it's adding a lot of...

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 Build

There is a 1" drain hole in the pan to drain any water that accumulates. The other 4 holes are only 1/4", so can't imagine they are for drainage. Is your comment specific to the R&R pan or just in general?

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 Build

The only gripe about the R&R tray are the four holes they pre-drill in the floor of the pan. Found these 1/4" plugs at Lowes. Perfect fit. I plan on using a stand up pedestal seat. The distance from the seat to the pedal is actually right on. It's the same distance as my Ranger, so should...

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 Build

I haven't done anything to the boat in a while and the one thing I regret not adding was a recessed trolling motor. Standing on 1 leg all day really takes it's toll on your knee and back. I didn't add during the original build because there were support braces running right up the middle of...

    Grizzly 1648 build

That's why I didn't add one to my Grizzly, but my back regrets it. I'll wait until you do yours and wait to hear how it goes :)

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 Build

I bought the front hatch from Cabelas. Quality was way better than I expected. I had the rear hatch made by a guy on this forum (Prowelder i.e. Matt Downs).

Appreciate that. If you run into snags or want to know how I did something just ask. I didn't post a ton of detail, but be glad to help.

    Tracker Grizzly PPG Paint Code

Appreciate the replies, but I asked over a year ago :) I ended up taking a piece to my PPG dealer and they were able to do a spot on match. Think I paid about $20 for the quart and it was a dead nuts match. I saved the PPG formula posted here just in case.

    Livewell Water Direction

Is that picture that shows your floor accurate? If so, do you plan to level it out? Reason I'm asking, my Tracker 1648 was the same way. When I leveled it, under the center was obviously higher, so I ran a fill line and drain line from there to the back of the hull. I would be worried about...

    Tracker Grizzly 1648 Build

I was trying to figure out a good way to strap the hatch down and decided it was just easier to throw the hinge on it. Still have room to get to the batteries and gas tank, so calling it done. Since I'm trying to keep the boat light, I decided to pull the charger out of the boat. I found...

I have a hinge for it, just need to install it. It's snug enough that it's not going anywhere, but I don't want to take any chances.

Matt, thanks again for the awesome work you did for me. The rear hatch you built for me was perfect! It's on page 2 of my build if you want to check it out. https://www.forum.tinboats.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=41595
