Bearing Grease seal, spindle - should there be a gap?

It's normal to have grease on the inside of the rim and on the tire. That means the grease is being pushed through. If you have to fill the hub after every use, you might have the wrong size bearing. I can't see how that could be possible, you'd think you would have some bearing damage??? I...

    New Guy Project ! !

Be careful with decking the front, you might have stability issues. If the boat doesn't have a deck on it now do some homework before you decide to install a deck. Get the boat in the water, put a life jacket on and walk on the front bench. If you find your out of balance and having to sway to...

    12 ft v with 5.5 speed?

I would take the foil off, it's not doing you any good. Try and move some of your weight around, move some more weight towards the bow. It might trim better and will gain some more speed.

    14 ft Starcraft Seafarer

A quick fix to repair the missing rivets is use the same diameter nut and bolt and washer on each side and smear it with a water sealer (3M) tighten it down, been holding on my boat for years. In fact it works better than a rivet.

    Question about my V Bottum

The Styrofoam is floatation that prevents the boat from sinking to the bottom. Even if the boat fills with water it shouldn't sink do to the Styrofoam. Removing it will increase the chance of it sinking, if you remove it try to replace it in a different location.

    Winter storage question....

I live in North East Pa, it will get cold in November and freeze. This is what I do to winterize my boat. I run the fuel out of the motor, then spray a fogging agent into the engine through the spark plug holes. I use stable in the gas tank, then I charge the batteries and cover it up. Is it...

    Worth the aggravation

NO! Don't bother fixing it, you'll have more than it's worth in materials. I did a minimal re-fit ( paint, seats, pedestals, new wood) on my boat and it was close to $500.

    Frozen transom mount bolts :-(

Try using a solvent called PB Blaster keep applying it for a few days, it just might work, blaster is good stuff. If not try and heat them up. That should work.

    FIsh Finder

If it were me, I'd purchase a new depth finder. Cuda as well as Hummingbird make a very affordable finders under $90/ As a matter of fact cuda makes the 620 line it retails for $74. I use a Cuda and haven't had any troubles with it. Cuda stands behind there finders, I bent a connector (my fault)...

    Motorcycle battery for starter?

I own an 1856 Jon boat with a 50hp jet motor. I use a car battery for starting and a deep cycle for the TM. I'm a guide and I use both batteries hard with no trouble at all. Like they said if you start the motor enough with a small battery it won't last

coating and paint for steel boat

I used rustoleum and a roller, make sure the surface is clean before you start. I did 2 coats. It will save you money, steeflex is expensive. I did it on my boat and it shines as so far It's bullet proof.

    Transom Saver Options

Among my fleet of boats I have a 1951 star craft 14 foot with a 15hp mercury 2 stroke. With the same trouble you have. The site that nomowork suggested is a good template. If you can weld or know someone that can you can make your own. Save the $64 plus shipping and do it yourself. I welded a...
