Yikes, what an imagination!
But seriously I’ve had it out a couple times now and it rides like a dream. Handles small chop fine. Not a boat you’d want to take on rough seas anyhow. It reminds me of these river boats:
Gives you a good view over the bow of rocks and logs.
So I just bought this boat. 91 fisher hawk cs 16.
Super clean/well taken care of, I really like the layout, and I got a good deal on it. Just wondering if anyone has seen one like this before with the forward mounted center console that folds down. You pull 2 pins and the center...
Thought I’d post a little update. After using the boat all spring and summer I can say I’m totally happy with all the upgrades I’ve made. Caught tons of fish, and did it in much more comfort than the original layout.
This boat is the perfect setup for the shallow lake I live on...
Got her out on the water for a test run
Didn’t do any fishing, but I trolled around a little and played with the fish finder. I think I’m going to really like this whole setup. Hopefully the next post will have some fish!
Got the surface drive mounted up
Added a pull to the battery hatch
All the ice is almost off the lake. Might be able to get the boat on the water this weekend!
Thanks! I’m getting pretty excited to get it out on the water.
Decided I’m going to give a pole anchor a try. The lake I live on is mostly 6ft deep and under with a mucky/sandy bottom, so I think a pole anchor will really work nice.
Made this fold out mount for holding the pole
And here it...
With painting out of the way I’ve moved on to final assembly.
Still have to get screws to mount the seat base, and wire everything up, but we’re nearing the finish line!
Threw this pole holder together quick out of some scraps. Added a shim inside the one tube to fit my fly rod better.
Getting set up to do paint this weekend
I keep thinking of little things to add to the boat. Today I decided I wanted an out of the way place to store the couple small tackle boxes I carry.
So I started playing around with some scraps
I came up with this shelf under the deck
Thought about making a door for it, but I think...
Scuffed up all the raw aluminum in preparation for paint. Also got the nav light mounted.
Made a hatch lid to cover the battery compartment
Hopefully get her all painted this weekend
Got the hatch cut in up front.
And my new seat came in
Time will tell if I like the seat or if I need one with a backrest. I got it cheap on sale though, so I’ll give it a try.
Thinking I’ll put a bungee cord across to keep the life jackets in place.
Thanks for the kind words! I’m really pleased with how it’s turning out.
I definitely think going with aluminum for the decking is worth it for the way I use the boat. It spends 7-8 months of the year tied up to the dock outside in the rain and sun. Wood and carpeting just wouldn’t hold up.
