I got out the saw, and made some cuts. It was a real struggle to convince myself to make irreversible changes to the factory structure. Until now, all changes I've made were reversible, I could put it back to factory if I wanted, so this is now entering a new level of mods in my mind.

Here we go.. Phase II.
Phase II is to include removing most of the center bench, installing a flat floor from the rear of what was the front bench to the front of the rear bench, installation and wiring of navigation lights and some other electrical work, and some other accessories like cup...
The things I would do if I had access to a tig.... You've done some nice work so far, lots of interesting and original details. Looking forward to watching this one through to the end.
Looking for input on which pedestal kit to buy for my build. I am considering either the Springfield Kingpin series, or the Attwood Swivl-eze 3/4 inch, both with aluminum base and nylon bushing. The Attwood is about 80% of of the Springfield.
Does anyone have experience with either of these...
Looks like a great hull to start with. Good to hear you had a plan before even buying the boat, you had purchase criteria. That boat should really move with a 40 on it. Do you have a time line in mind for this build?
Thanks you! It was a lot of work, but the worst part was honestly researching which products and techniques to use, and then trying to find somewhere that I could actually buy those products. I am happy with how it turned out though, so that does make it all worth it.
I wish I had put more...
A drop in deck will be the simplest and quickest. If you want to remove the battery/fuel cover, then as you said, you know how to. I think you could make a drop in light enough to just move it whenever you need to access the fuel. installing a hatch to access the switches is not a bad idea...
Great looking work you did. I am glad I am not the only one around here who understands that when it comes to resistance to bending of a beam height is much more important than width. You did some simple but effective things to improve your build.
Was it velcro you used or Dual-lock reclosable...
The first year I had my boat and motor I learned a tough lesson at the expense of my 80's Merc's immaculate original paint. Towing a boat with the outboard down on a gravel road will wreck the paint on your motor's lower end. After 45 minute of gravel with the motor down (strapped tight to...
Having built my own bow plate on my boat, my advice is to go between the gunnels, not on top of them. Having my bow plate higher than the gunnels leads to problems such as tarps tubbing on the carpeted edge, and if you store the boat upside down like I do, itll catch water running off the hull...
With only four months until next summer's fishing season opener, it's time to start planning mods I want to get done this year.
My number one goal for next season is to use the boat more. With not having the boat in the water until the beginning of September, I really didnt get to enjoy it...
I noticed that a bunch of the seam sealant appeared to be peeling off of my old Lund hull (70's), but I was pleasantly surprised that none of the spots leaked. Boat projects are enough work as it is, I'd say check for more leaks before you going sealing every seam.
Looks like you have a great...
This will likely be the final update for a while. Planning to use the boat for a while before I get into stage 2 of this build. Here she is, the Jenny III.
Some quick details on how I wired the courtesy lights. Aka white LED penny lights.
So far the casting deck has been working very...
