    Ply thickness?

Thanks. 18mm is between 5/8 and 3/4 so should be fine.

    Ply thickness?

What thickness ply is standard for decking? I was going to go 18mm (3/4") but if that's overkill or too thin be great to know.

    New project!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. As much as I want to get the boat done, I can't fish out of it until the season opens in the middle of June, so I have time to contemplate. I'll get some measurements and try to see what the best solution will be. Other than the natural reluctance to drill holes...

    New project!

Thanks Glen. I was thinking of running the deck over the front seat and fixing down into the front seat, so your suggestion would work, though in a slightly different way. Thanks.

    New project!

Been thinking more about your suggestions, and may have found a good solution. I probably need to put some ply under the foredeck to support the TM, so if I made the ply cover the entire underneath of the foredeck I could then have a fixing to hang some of the casting deck structure to. Thanks...

Rubber mat as a deck cover?

Thank you. That does sound very much like upholstery vinyl construction with the woven backing and would be ideal for my boat, if I could find something with enough texture.

Rubber mat as a deck cover?

The upholstery vinyl I've seen is a very heavy, backed material, usually with very little texture. The boats I've been in with Vinyl covered decks have had a fairly heavy texture and haven't appeared to have the kind of spring I'd imagine there would be with the upholstery vinyl. I've never seen...

Rubber mat as a deck cover?

Thanks. Is upholstery vinyl the same as deck vinyl? I imagined they were quite different. They feel different to me?

Rubber mat as a deck cover?

That would be absolutely perfect. I doubt they'd come to the UK to do my little boat though.

Pics of your four legged fishing partners

My spaniel. He loves to fish and watches the line as I bring it back in watching for followers. He's also not bad on the pheasants.

    New project!

Thanks, I had looked at that, but it's a rolled edge and not so easy to attach to, also I need access to the underside of the deck and would ideally like the deck to extend underneath the foredeck to give extra storage space to just stuff things under, but leave them accessible. I was looking...

    New project!

Just picked up my new hull. I'm going to put a deck on the front and rear. Need some advice. I plan to use 1" angled 3mm aluminium riveted to the sides to continue the line of the front bench, then build a couple of cross pieces off of them to support a plywood deck. There really isn't any easy...

Rubber mat as a deck cover?

As far as I can tell, marine vinyl isn't available here in the UK. I have looked quite hard too, hence the need to find an alternative.

Rubber mat as a deck cover?

That's the stuff I was thinking of. Supposed to be fairly non slip and available in a range of colours, so no hot black only option. Shaugh's second link is very like what I have in mind.

Rubber mat as a deck cover?

Has anyone used the dimpled rubber matting you can get as a roll or as tiles to cover their boat decks? Any difficulties or reasons not to use it? I can see it wouldn't be able to fold round hatches etc, but if it glues down well hopefully it would look reasonably neat. Don't want carpet as most...
