I bought a neglected mod v last spring and converted it from a side consol to a tiller with a 9.9. The lake I fish on the most is 10 hp restricted. Thanks to all the info here this rookie was able to inexpensively get on the water with a boat that met our needs.

Have you started on the rear deck yet? I am SWPA working on a 1648 and starting the rear deck this weekend, just wondering what your plans were?
