I've got a 1950 Lone Star Commander that I'm slowly modifying whenever I get a day off from work. (( I know, I know - I need to post my project pictures #-o ))
I drilled out the rivets last weekend and popped out the center bench so I could add a section of flat floor while I continue deciding...
"Thanks! And there is always room for a couple of P40 looking Lone Stars, heck we might start a new trend, lol"
Heck Yes! Maybe we could team up with Henry Hefner here in Texas and start a club! :LOL2: If you haven't seen his 'Minnow Bucket' then check it out - it's a nice mod as well.
:D I'm not surprised that you made a profit - it's a very well done & intelligently designed mod. I cant wait to see your next one! Thank you for your service sir, & keep us posted.
Awww man :( I was planning on going with the same color *and* the Shark-mouth decals for bow art on my 1950 Commander... now I'm gonna look like a copy cat.... good job on those channels btw and the whole build is looking great!
I know that I've heard of that method too and while I don't have any holes (and hopefully never will) [-o< - I wonder if one could grind down the bolt to avoid it snagging and causing damage. Though I've never used the 5200 - maybe that's not a concern?
Hey~!
Your Commander is looking great! I'm excited to see the finished project. I also have a Commander (1950) but since I work in the oilfield I haven't even had it on the water as much as I'd like - let alone had time to work on the mod. I'd have to look through my files but I found original...
Hey there sir!
Forgive me if I missed this somewhere in this thread but:
How many pounds of wood do you estimate has been added to the boat?
I'm considering decking my 14.5' Lone Star Commander (1970 Johnson 9.5) with aluminum to keep the weight down.
But I have the tools and everything...
Thanks for the support guys, I think it's gonna be much more enjoyable to run this motor than any other. Personally I want nothing to do with four strokes or fuel injection... it's a shame that the powers that be are forcing us to 'modernize'....
That's excellent news! At least I have the capacity for all five of us, though I don't know if my wife will like the tight quarters. :)
I just found a few pictures of the 1954 catalog and a later year as well, I will post them this evening - still at work. :LOL2:
They give HP but not...
The boat came with a 1970 9.5 Johnson but there's no tags on it except for the bow/stern Lone Star brand tags. No serial number, max capacity but I have three boys, I saw an old ad the other night for a Larson boat that's nearly identical and it was rated up to 33HP and by my calculations I...
