We left our house to go to my wife's grandparents house in case of power loss overnight, they have a hardwired backup generator. Growing up in WI, there was no way you'd see tree branches anywhere near power lines. Here, they don't seem to care at all. I thought for sure we'd be without power...
I've got a 1988 Johnson VRO 70, with the oil injection setup removed. I mix 50:1 in it in the tank rather than having to worry about the oil injection giving up on me out on the water and toasting my engine. I know there are tricks for getting more power out of some engines, like bigger carbs...
It does amaze me to see how many places shut down for this. The roads were slippery, but they closed school 3 days for this. I guess they're not prepared for it like other places are.
Man, that's a sharp build. Makes me second guess myself on going camo on mine. Make this one a flats boat and buy a open hull jon boat to duck hunt with... Decisions, decisions...
I do like that build a lot on your Triton. Now I just have to decide how much of a difference in cost it'd be between wood with epoxy and all versus aluminum. I haven't even priced sheet locally, just online from a company in MN, and I'm not going to pay shipping for a couple sheets of aluminum...
progress has been pretty slow. Got it all taken apart, and the hull is upside down. Removing stickers and prepping for paint. When I get paid again, I'll be buying some Gator Glide G4 for a bottom coat, and probably 3 inches up the side to help slide through grassy stuff and some bottom...
I've wrapped my radiator and engine block in christmas lights before when my radiator froze solid. It took a long while to thaw out, but if it's that cold, you're not in much of a hurry to get back on the water!
PSG-1, when my VA disability comes through, I might have to take you up on a turn key rig. I'd even help out with it just so when it's done I'll have a better idea of how to fix it if it ever has trouble. I'm very intrigued by these jet jons, I think they'd be an awesome solution for me and my...
that whole back section sucks pretty hard to get out, but if you start from the front of it, and work your way back drilling out the rivets as you go, it'll all eventually come out. I'm working on doing pretty much the same thing with mine right now, center console and all.
I never really checked while I was taking my boat apart, but now with all the original foam out and the decks, it's very flimsy on the front end. I'm wondering if you still have this problem with there being no spray foam? I know you added a lot of aluminum bracing to yours, and I'm going to be...
Not to highjack, but My wife's grandfather has that marine vinyl on his 17 foot war eagle, it's a medium grey color, and it gets so hot here in South Carolina that you better put a towel down on it if you're going to get on it bare foot or sit on it with shorts on. a lighter color might be...
