I'm debating on whether or not to replace my '04 Johnson 3.5hp 2-stroke with a new 6hp Mercury. I like the convenience of not mixing gas and I'm sure a little smoother operation. In my 14' I get around 5.5mph according to the gps. That's with me only and fishing gear, anchor, extra gas, etc...

Marine R/X is a pretty pricey item, compared to Bondo. Would Bondo be a safe alternative? I plan to put a coat of Gluvit, prime and paint over which ever one I use. I just figured Bondo would be okay as long as I sealed and painted it. Thoughts :?:
