    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

Ahh yes, forgot about that issue! Probably will need two batteries then. Suzuki I plan to get recommends only Lead Acid. Also just read the stator from the Suzuki might not be able to charge the lithium battery either...

    Lithium Battery Question - 50AH LiFeP04 for a 55# thrust Minn Kota?

Looks like Wieze has a dual purpose now, looks interesting to me since Id prefer just one battery and really only use it for TM and starting.

    Console placement

Just googled that, awesome looking product!

    Console placement

@thill is right on that. It took me some getting used to. I didnt love the action either, but it really did open the boat up.

    Console placement

I have used this exact console in the past on a 12ft trihull skiff and loved it. I also have used stick steer I mounted to a cooler in the rear of the boat (doubled as a casting platform), could very well work for your setup if you create a platform on the rear. It was nice because the ENTIRE...

Boatlife caulk. Useful for if you ever need to remove motor in the future.

Question on new Alumacraft hulls (V14/V16)

Yes I would add bracing for sure if I decide to take them out. I am still hoping to find a used model so I wouldn't "cut up a new boat" and void the warranty. @Tin Man thanks for that video. It actually shows what I was asking about! In part 1 at the 3:30 mark hes taking out the second box...

Question on new Alumacraft hulls (V14/V16)

Would they be providing support if they were not mounted to the floor? Im not disagreeing by the way. Just trying to visualize my plan and how to keep the structural integrity if I do decide to remove them. If they are not mounted to the floor or a rib below, they are just "floating" there in...

Question on new Alumacraft hulls (V14/V16)

There is no foam in them. They are hollow storage compartments. Heres a pic below, I am referring to the middle small ones that do not span the entire length.

Question on new Alumacraft hulls (V14/V16)

Simple questions, but since I haven't seen a new one in person yet, I figured I would ask... The new v14/16 hulls have the center seats with storage on the sides that allow a center walkway (not a bench seat). I plan to remove them in my future boat to have an open layout, are these structural...

    Alumacraft 16v utility

I wanted to add a bit of my personal experience here. I have been out in the Fort Lauderdale intercoastal multiple times fishing at night in my buddys Alumacraft V14. We had 4 people on board, 3 of us were casually fishing. Nothing special, throwing live/dead bait at dock lights for snook and...

Lots of random bolts/holes, what would you do?

Yes, its corrosion, a lot of the white stuff is silicone sealant the PO put on. I have been thinking about scrapping it for sure - but I got a few free packs of 650k and some fiberglass. Might see if I can spread it out and cover some. Not really holding my breath.

Lots of random bolts/holes, what would you do?

I finally got some time to start patching up my boat. I have a bunch of bolt holes throughout the hull. I have some larger ones I plan to patch with epoxy/fiberglass/riveting plates. BUT for the randomly dispersed bolt holes - I am not sure the best method of action. I have a few thoughts - I...

Help me decide the best way to fix pitting

Interesting. So the ZC primer will help prevent further corrosion. Do you still have the boat? Hows it holding up? I was planning to avoid it just like @sonny1 did since TotalBoat makes an epoxy primer specifically for aluminum. I like the idea since it does help future pitting from happening.

Help me decide the best way to fix pitting

Wouldn't sanding to bare aluminum, and then an acid wash, quickly followed by some sort of barrier coat (gluvit or totalboat) prevent corrosion in the future? My understanding is that the acid literally eats all the corrosion away, and you got a few hours before aluminum oxide starts all over...

Which 6 hp outboard to purchase?

I know I sent you a message Wayne, but wanted to throw out another option for those looking for good quality older (smaller) 2-strokes. Checkout smalloutboards (dot) com, AFA marine. Its a small group of guys that rebuild outboards all the time. I purchased no less than 3 from him over the...

Help me decide the best way to fix pitting

Absolutely could be the issue. There is a coating of epoxy under the paint but its in bad shape for sure. I was thinking marine tex for awhile but a post awhile back showed some serious corrosion under it when it was removed. Ill try and find it, thats why I plan to cover wide areas with...

Alcoa back in stock at VTS

Just wanted to throw this out there for those of you who could use it. The alcoa gutter seal is back in stock. SUPER hard to find, and apparently great for sealing seams etc. I dont work for them, but have been trying to source for months now. Sorry if this is inappropriate, but I thought it...

Help me decide the best way to fix pitting

Well thats a bummer! I have a Grumman, any idea when OMC bought them? Mine is a 90. My transom was not pressure treated, but it was rotted. Previous owner half *** painted it with antifouling paint, and it lived in saltwater. When I got it there were huge blisters in the paint still holding salt...

Help me decide the best way to fix pitting

Gflex 650k seems to be popular. I would use it on freshly cleaned bare aluminum however, not over the zinc primer. I read on another forum, that the acidity in the primer along with the acidity in the epoxy create bonding problems, but I dont have first hand experience. I have a lot of pitting...
