    1999 Saturn SL1 question...

I wish I could find a decent vehicle for less than that where I live in Northeast Ohio. The days of a decent $1500 car are over sadly...

    1999 Saturn SL1 question...

Looking at a used 1999 Saturn SL1 for my kid. 140,000 miles for $1300. Great price, pics look good too. Wondering if anyone has experience with this car and can point out any problems with this vehicle model type that I should look for? Any input would be great. Much thanks!

    1982 Johnson 9.9 - recoil starter issues

I was really rewinding the rope back onto the spool. Let me ask, if the coil is still intact and I rewind it, how do I know if I tightened the coil enough? Any tips on that?

    1982 Johnson 9.9 - recoil starter issues

First, thanks to everyone that responded. I pulled the starter out and matched up the starter to the diagram, part for part, and everything seems fine. I found no broken parts. The pin that attaches to the coiler was in tact. I have to say, taking this off and on was rather simple. Now, I am...

    1982 Johnson 9.9 - recoil starter issues

I have a '82 Johnson 9.9 and the pull rope won't retract back into the recoiler. I've tried rewinding it back onto the spool and it still won't retract so I'm assuming something broke within the part. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any tips of what I should try before taking...

    Electric-Only boat setup

My winter project is setting up my boat for electric only lakes. Right now my setup includes a transom and bow mount motor that has a battery dedicated for each. For the fish finder, nav lights and bilge I'm thinking of adding a third, smaller battery just for the electronics. Wondering if...

    portable trolling motor bracket

Finally got around to taking final pics with the suggestions given in earlier posts. Here are shots with the recessed holes for the clamps and the mount secured to the boat with cables. The next time I'm out, I'll take some video. Thanks again for the suggestions!

    1982 Johnson 9.9 outboard

Well, I'm back to square one. When I put it in forward gear, the lower unit goes right into place and I can screw the lower unit back into place but I can't get it to go into forward gear afterwards. I tried again with it in reverse and the shifting cable is to far up to connect with the clamp...

    1982 Johnson 9.9 outboard

I just got done replacing the impeller on my 1982 Johnson 9.9 with no problems taking the lower unit off, removing the shifting cable, taking the impeller off, etc. The lower unit was snug and need some force to get it off but it did. My best guess from the impeller is that it's original to the...

    Bow Deck Dilemna

The routing may be the best bet as I don't have any metal signs laying around! LOL! Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe metal would be the easiest way to go...

    Bow Deck Dilemna

I came across this issue and thought I'd share it with the forum. I want to add a deck large enough to the bow for a trolling motor. I thought this would be fairly easy but I noticed something and I'm not sure how to handle it. Take a look at these pics: First, the piece of plywood is for...

    portable trolling motor bracket

I'll definitely add some shallow holes for the clamp screws. That is a GREAT idea. ! Once I get it on the water and do some testing, I'll make the final one. Just need a couple coats of polyurethane as well as to secure the mount to the boat with some cable to ensure the bracket and motor don't...

    portable trolling motor bracket

The final version is forthcoming but I want to try this on the water a few times to ensure everything works as intended. I think it came out well! Thoughts? Oh, there is very little "slop" in it right now but I have not water tested it. Running the motor itself seems to be very stable. Why no...
