    Fixing leaky rivets

Leaking rivets aren't easy to fix the "right way". You can patch them up with some adhesive but they will leak again some time in the future. Unless you are paying a rock bottom price this might be a case of buying someone elses problem. Proceed cautiously!

    Looking for another tinny

I highly recommend Alweld Marsh series. I bought the 1648 flat bottom (instead of mod-V) and I absolutely love my boat. If storage isn't a concern, go with the 1652 or bigger, I needed to fit mine in the garage or I would have gone slightly larger. What I like: * Solid construction with thick...

Opinions wanted, Yamaha 25HP 4-stroke vs ETEC 25 HP?

Yamaha's are superb motors, I fish in the Outer Banks of NC often and talk to a lot of people who make a living on the water, they all have Yamaha. That's a pretty good endorsement right there. I have a 2-stroke 25hp Yammy and love it. The dealer is right, they have made a lot of improvements...

    Fish finder setting help

The fish finder out-of-the box will perform great without having to adjust anything. Just answer the questions during the setup and then you are good to go, the unit will automagically adjust itself for the conditions you're in without having to touch anything. How deep is your pond? If the...

Perfect Weather, Not so Perfect Catching

I've concluded the more comfortable I am the crappier the fishing. Fishing seems to be better when the weather is just awful.

Yamaha F25ESHA intermittent push button start

Voltage isn't getting from A to B when you push the starter button. Trouble shooting with a volt meter is probably your best option. Using the voltmeter push the button and see where the voltage goes to zero. Check for loose or frayed wires. Check for dirty connections. Check the fuse...

I was the boat ramp idiot

Summertime is the worse for the ramp hogs. I've commented in a nice way how they block the ramp when they prep their boat for 15 minutes backed down the ramp. Since I did it in a nice way I could see it made an impact and they hadn't really thought about that way before. Honestly I think most...

I was the boat ramp idiot

I was on Harris at the dam ramp. I was scared you were going to say you saw me rip my boat off the trailer, glad you weren't there for that!

I was the boat ramp idiot

Yeah I've offered many a helping hand. Had an older gentleman that drove his boat off the bunks trying to power load. Could tell he was in a bind cuz he was older and didn't know what to do. Couldn't go forward, couldn't go backwards, and couldn't get out the boat due to his age. I just...

I was the boat ramp idiot

Yeah I'm going to have to make a checklist like the airplane pilots use before each flight. Getting older and my memory ain't what it use to be.

I was the boat ramp idiot

Great boat ramp story - yes I was the boat ramp idiot yesterday here's my story. Keep in mind this my brand new boat and trailer, about the 5th time I'm putting it in the water. Took the day off of work to go fishing. Beautiful warm winter day for fishing, light winds. Excited! I get to the...

    Garmin vs Lorance

I've always owned Lowrance and never had any problems with them. I stick with Lowrance because I know how to work the units and like I said they have never been a problem. The real answer is do your research, compare all the features for the amount of money you want to spend. I think all the...

    Decent Pliers on sale!

I prefer the needle nose pliers you can get at Wally world for a buck. Kick them off the boat, shrug shoulders and move on. Same with sunglasses. Sure you can spend $200 on some nice ones but when I sit on my $15 Wally world glasses I still sleep at night.

    Dry Carbs?

I use non-enthanol fuel and Seafoam. Motor has sat for 3-4 months with no issues. Use the same gas in my lawnmower and at the end of mowing season I push it in the shed. Four months later I pull it out and it starts on the first pull. So personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Put...

    My New "Dream" Boat

Happy to say I recently picked up my "dream" boat after a lot of research and a long long wait for it to be ordered and delivered. I call it my "dream" boat because this is the boat I imagined myself owning if and when I retired, but the Lord has blessed the last few years and I was able to...
