    2020 mercury 40hp jet

Max HP rating is 25 on the 1448.

    2020 mercury 40hp jet

That 1448 Grizzly is a heavy boat for its size. Even if motor is set properly I could see it struggling to get on plane. I have a 1648 Grizzly with a Merc 60/40 jet. I am running around 29-30 mph by myself and 25mph with another person. I do have my cranking battery and two trolling motor...

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

Had the boat out a few times now. Had it up to right at 30 mph according to my phone GPS. Think I can get a little more out of it with some fine tuning. Added a set of oars I had by making some oar blocks out of UHMW that fit into the versatrack. The boat rows surprisingly well. I am going...

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

Just about there. A few odds and ends to wrap up and then I should have it on the water.

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

Finally made some progress on the boat. Mounted the battery trays/batteries, wired in the trolling motor plug, and ran power under the floor to the stern of the boat. I also decided to try out the TH Micro Hydraulic jackplate. I've heard some mixed things on jackplates with jets, but everyone...

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

I actually did know that about the channel, and plan to utilize it for my main wiring. This boat will be used for bass and steelhead primarily. I’m still figuring out exactly what trolling motor I’m going to run, and i plan to run to cheap graph of some sort also.

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

That's already on the list! I'm planning to do either a fold down one, or one that is easily removable. I'm considering something that will bolt into the versatrack on the boat. Possibly something like this.

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

I don't plan on mounting any kind of driver's seat, I plan to stand while running. I am doing a 24v Minn Kota and I will be running all three batteries up front to help with weight distribution. The stock seat base they put on the Grizzly isn't ideal for any tiller motor if you ask me.

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

I'll be running through the fall and into Winter. Prime Steelhead season up here!

New boat build - 1648 Grizzly with 60/40 Jet

Hey guys, I've been a lurker here a while but figured I'd share my new boat build. I got a very good deal on a lightly used 60/40 Mercury Fourstroke Jet, and I'm pairing it with a 1648 Tracker Grizzly. I'm upgrading to the big tiller kit on the motor with RPM adjustment, along with some other...

    Left-Behind Trash?

Litter is a problem at pretty much every public fishing spot unfortunately. I would say add more trash cans, but let's be honest, these people wouldn't use them. I always keep some plastic bags in my boat or backpack so I can pick up whatever I can.

    First trip of the year

Yeah the weather has been holding me back from getting out. We had a slight warm up, but now the forecast is calling for below zero temps again, with -20 wind chills.

    First trip of the year

I will fish for just about anything that swims, but October through March its pretty much just steelhead. The video on this one didn't turn out that great, as I had some technical difficulties with my camera mount. Once I get a little better with my Gopro I will be sure to share some videos.

    First trip of the year

Finally had decent conditions to get the boat out. Hit my local river, went 1 for 3 on steelhead, with the one i landed being a beautiful 11 lb. female. Here are a couple of cool photos from my GoPro.
