    Jon Boat bench fabric

I am looking to built a folding bench seat to go across the back of my jon boat. I would like to make it relatively thin so when folded down a person can step on/over it onto the back deck for fishing. I have the design down but I cant seem to figure out which material to use to cover the foam...

    Bad news...Piston cracked.

Looks like part of the ring broke and I think took the edge of the piston. Not sure how that cylinder overheated, it has always pumped water just fine. I rebuilt the carbs last fall and probably only have 20 hours on the boat since I built it, if that. I pulled the oil pump when I got the...

    Bad news...Piston cracked.

no clue to hours, but it hadnt had a top end done since 1995 as everything was factory. I'm just glad it didnt jack up the cylinder walls. Amk, youre right about the color of the pistons, I guess if there was a lean condition that caused the piston to overheat it would show in the color on top...

    Bad news...Piston cracked.

Noticed the jetjon running a little rough and had a hard time getting any throttle response....hmmmm....Got home and did a compression test, rear cylinder was way low. Pulled the top end off and found a chipped piston. The cylinder walls are still in great shape, one has very slight scoring...

Out of curiosity, what is L mode?

Did you buy a used one from a parts yard or go new? I have been reading up on the xl1200 and its seems the motor, while being dependable doesnt output much more than the xl800. What motor are you planning on using with that pump?

    He Reigns Mon Ark project

Welcome Back! Glad to hear the jetjon is still around. Mine is still running strong as well and is fun as heck, I am planning on another build this winter much to my wife's dismay. I hear you about dents, mine has two good ones in the bottom, not from running the boat surprisingly but from...

    New Bait Well

Check out flow-rite.com no more garden hose fittings needed, makes building a livewell or bait tank a breeze. Used their fittings on my last boat and a diy bait tank build for shad, worked great.

Does a pump raise water temp in a bait tank?

Good post. It stands to reason that an electric motor will generate a small amount of heat, it will become less noticeable with a larger tank and freshwater inflow and the addition of bait or gamefish into the equation. I had a bluewater bait tank with filtration and it didnt heat up at all...

I routinely see 4 stroke honda jetskis on craigslist for 4-6k, try getting a 100hp 4 stroke outboard for that kind of money. Good luck on the build

If I remember correctly, and someone should correct me if I am wrong...but Berkeley pumps are usually paired with a large block engine and they are a large diameter pump that smaller engines would lug to push water through. However if you did put a big engine in there you could probably get...

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

To be honest the bottom of my boat was in very bad shape and I think prepping the hull by sanding and smoothing out everything really cut back on drag. I would imagine that a boat that is in good shape prior to coating out would not experience mph gains like I did. Wetlander does claim that...

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

According to the product it is silcone based epoxy. As far as durability I know alot of drift boat guys use it and it is used for airboat bottoms. I imagine with any bottom coating it's going to get dinged and scratched but at least its the coating taking the abuse and not the aluminum hull...

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

Total cost with shipping was $250. I think the reason it worked so well on my boat was how rough the bottom was compared to how smooth it became after prep work and painting. Like I said before, initially I am thrilled with product I am interested to see how well it wears in the seasons to come.

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

Its either I throw money at my boat or at my wife, and we all know the boat won't go buy shoes.... :LOL2: I did strip boat to bare aluminum and used the 2L system.

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

I took the boat out this weekend for the first time with Wetlander on the bottom. I loaded it on the trailer off the blocks it was on with ease, the last 3 feet I just winched the boat onto the runners and it slid so easy, what used to take two hands to turn the winch I could do with 3 fingers...

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

Looks great river ski, I wish I had a way to lift the hull up without blocks but I did not create any places to attach straps to, so now I have for small spots that I have to sand, prime and topcoat once the boat is on the trailer. Kind of a pain but I think this coating will be worth it! Let us...

Is it feasable to build jet jon

Feasible? That word can have different meanings to different people, for me a jetjon was feasible because I fish shallow rocky clear rivers and thats pretty much all I have other than the Ohio river. If I was a lake fisherman then a jetjon would not be feasible solution to a good fishing boat...

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

Put the final 2 coats on last night and I must say it looks great. I checked it this morning and the coating is nice and even and slicker than a greased monkey (not sure how slippery monkeys are, but suffice it to say the boat hull is very, very slick). I am taking it out this weekend and will...

    Wetlander Coating for the Jetjon

Thankfully I've never been part of that group of fisherman that unhooks the boat before backing down the ramp, I think the issue I will have is actually getting the boat to stay on the trailer when driving onto it from the water, my guess is that the boat will just slide back off...that's going...
