    "Old Gold" - 1958 Alumacraft Deep C

I was talking with my wife while out on 'Old Gold' this weekend and realized that I never brought closure to my build thread on here. It's come a long way and I can finally say that I'm done with this project. There may be a few things here and there that I'll work on, but that is the fun of...

1968 14' Lund Big Fisherman Do Over

How did you seal your plywood the first time? Might be helpful to others to know what went wrong. Look forward to seeing the new decks!

Looks great! Isn't it crazy the amount of hardware that these transoms have on them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    "Old Gold" - 1958 Alumacraft Deep C

I'm reviving my build thread from the dead because I've had a change of heart. After fishing/cruising with it in it's current design, I realize that it's 1) Way too light in the bow 2) very difficult to fish from/anchor without access to the bow 3) short on deck space when I bring the family &...

    Carpet Adhesive

Yeah, that post was directed at Shoedawg. Also, my yellow carpet thing was meant to be a joke because I was using yellow legal paper. My wife regularly tells me that no one gets my sense of humor....

    Carpet Adhesive

At the risk of being way too detailed, here's some pics. Sorry for the delay, I just checked back in to this thread. So, I'm at the office, but imagine if you can that you have some yellow carpet and a white bow deck... Carpet by Photo 144, on Flickr Place your carpet on the deck and cut it...

    LED Navigation Lights vs USCG

You had me for a second, Johnny! I think the pic is reversed, the winch handle is on the wrong side, and I don't know that boat model well, but I would guess the 'passenger's' windshield would be taller and the drivers would be the shorter one.

    Carpet Adhesive

Good tip, Rich! I have a slightly different way of doing it, this is how we used to lay really large areas of carpet in commercial buildings when gluing to concrete: 1. cut your carpet to fit exactly how you want it with no glue. This is a dry fit. 2. Make sure it is laying exactly where you...

Need help with a small project

Don't use adhesive. Either screw it or just test it out and see if it will just lay in there with no fasteners. Some folks do this and it's really easy to remove if you want to replace carpet or whatever. Depending on how it's cut it might sit in there just fine. I would definitely not put 4"...

    Shallow Water Drive

Fordman for the win!!! Thank you! I scored one on Ebay for $8, free shipping. Anyone looking for one, search for 'Half Tilt Lock'. There were a ton of them, but I would have never guessed to search for that name. I'm glad I procrastinated trying to fumble around and make my own.

    "Old Gold" - 1958 Alumacraft Deep C

@vintin I'd love to have bare aluminum, that's my favorite too! But, there are about a thousand holes in this boat above the water line from the previous owner, so it would look horrible if polished

    "Old Gold" - 1958 Alumacraft Deep C

Fun day out with the dogs. It's really hard to get this thing painted when it's on the water every weekend!

    Professional Grade trimmer/brushcutter ?

I have a Stihl FS110 and I'm extremely happy with it, not sure why you'd need more power than that model. I use it with all of the available attachments regularly and it's fantastic. I haven't used the echo models, so I don't have any input there, but I'm a big fan of the Stihl.

1958 Alumacraft Queen Merrie 2.0 upgrade

Also, I think I speak for everyone here...More pics! I can't tell, but I don't think you have any final pics in there of it all assembled after painting. I'd like to see that.

1958 Alumacraft Queen Merrie 2.0 upgrade

Awesome! As you can tell from my build, this is right up my alley. I have to do the same kind of dash coverup that you did. From years of mounting things, it looks like swiss cheese. Can you do a little writeup of what you did? Materials, tips? Awesome Job! That's my boat's big brother! Also...

    Shallow Water Drive

So was my boat, so this will also be period correct lol. I'll give it a shot. This just seems like something that should be out there in the marketplace, so simple and useful. Assuming that it works as well as the OEM contraption on the 7.5. It might be even better if you can use reverse while...

    Shallow Water Drive

My family has a 7.5 Evinrude that I used for years and it had a feature on it for running in shallow water, essentially a higher trim setting than you can accomplish with the pin holes on the outboard. Here's a pic of it, it's a weird angle, but you can get the idea at least. 7.5 by Photo 144...

Life lesson learned, please read boaters.

Bowhunter, Not to sound like a creeper, but you were in my dreams last night..... I read this post yesterday evening and then had a very realistic dream about being in the water pulled around by my boat trying to avoid the propeller. I will forever be wearing a PFD when alone in my boat at...

    "Old Gold" - 1958 Alumacraft Deep C

Thanks Barefoot, but maybe I worded my question wrong. Do I still need to worry if I'm filling my boat tank by using a plastic jug? I think not, but who knows. I always fill my plastic gas jug on the ground, but I guess it's just coincidence rather than attention to safety. I just think it's...
