    Longboat Key

Loaded the cooler with grunts today and just chowed down on grunt tacos. Sheephead tacos were better, but I'll never toss a grunt back again. Found a group of mangrove snappers around otter key that all came in short. And that ends my 7 day non-resident license. Put eight different species of...

    Lake Erie - HOLY COW

I was just on Erie for the first time last month. Walleye fishing is a blast. I couldn't get over how many **** boats were out there each day doing the exact same thing we were. The walleye numbers in Erie are either unimaginably huge or screaming towards collapse. Where we were fishing there...

    Longboat Key

Yeah I know what you mean about those jack plate bay boats running in inches. My little 15 hp does have a shallow water setting on it that pretty much accomplishes same thing. I have been in just over a foot of water back home with no issue. Down here I've been trying to avoid that though. The...

    Longboat Key

I didn't catch this tip yesterday but thanks. I may try and sneak up there. The problem is they keep shutting down Ann maria bridge from Longboat for construction/repairs. So to go north i have to go way south into sarasota. Boat is hooked up right now just waiting for this storm to pass so I...

    Longboat Key

Yes I did. Nice fish. Weatherman ruined a perfectly good day of fishing today. They kept predicting bad storms all day that never showed. I spent some time in the mangrove swamp behind the house catching fiddlers crabs to use tomorrow.

    tin boats in salt

My Crestliner 1462 has been handling Sarasota Bay like a champ the past 4 days. 15 hp mercury 4 stroke. I've been up and down the whole length of Longboat. Flushing motor and washing boat after each day with some salt away type stuff I ordered off amazon. My boat isn't the smallest I have seen...

    Longboat Key

Ill definitely be keeping anymore grunts I catch. Got my profile filled in. My family has had a place on Longboat for years so I've been here quite a bit just never had access to a boat before. This trip I decided i was tired of wading and paddling kayaks. So I drug my little Crestliner down...

    Longboat Key

More catfish yesterday around Anna Maria. Fished a reef south of the 789 bridge into Sarasota today. Caught a bunch of little white grunts and a grouper today. After reading about white grunts I'm kicking myself for not loading the cooler. Put a bunch of reefs in my GPS will try a new one tomorrow.

    Longboat Key

In Longboat for the week. I brought my crestliner 1462 with me for the first time. I've only ever kayaked here before. Launched from south Anna Maria yesterday and fished around a place I used to have some mangrove snapper luck. I caught 20 catfish no snapper. So what's biting this time of year...
