I think the Lake Martin record is in that range- mid 40's. The new lake record striper for Lake Lanier here in Georgia was caught the same day I caught mine - I believe it was around 46#s or so. Caught by a guy bass fishing with light tackle on a green rubber lizard.

Ben2go, you can't see the other side of mine, but it ties into the front deck as well with another aluminum plate added. It's solid as a rock, with no flex at all. It won't crack the aluminum on my application. Granted it would be tougher to do with the v-hull.

Brine, mine was missing completely (ripped out). I bought an aftermarket stainless steel one (Bass Pro, less than $10.00), and beefed up the aluminum before bolting. Here's a pic.

Aluminum hulls are easier to patch. Simple aluminum patches can be fabricated, riveted and sealed with 5200 marine sealant. Aluminum hulls can be beached on gravel with no worries of gouging gel coat. I own both , and each have their advantages. Don't worry about operating in salt water...

I'm going to have to build a small platform (aluminum) to give the tank a flat place to sit. When I do that I'll put a little lip around it to keep it from moving around, maybe with someway to strap it down. They do tend to bounce around a little when trailering.
