    Looking for an obsolete part

Well I found one available at US boat works inc in Kansas. The bad news is I had to pay 50 bucks for a part that was normally under $10. And shipping was another $12. Still cheaper than a new motor. Thanks for the responses guys.

    Looking for an obsolete part

What do you guys do when you need a part that no one sells anymore? I'm looking for a 93878 retainer for a 2002 mercury 25hp 2 stroke.

    What did you catch today?

Was out last Thursday for the first time on the Bouge sound in N.C. looking for flounder. Didn't find any flounder but did hook up on this one in the grass. Great fight and a good first ever in slot red drum.

Homemade Shallow - medium depth anchor?

Welp, I finally got a chance to try out my anchors today. Worked great. Took the wife and boy out for some July 4th fun and parked at a river island. The wind was kicking today with gust at about 20mph and the boat didn't budge. The anchors stuck right into the sandy bottom about 12+ inches...

    Plastic Gas Tanks

Every boat owner should be avoiding ethanol gasoline at all cost. It is horrible for your boat motor, gas tank and fuel line. Last fall, after taking my boat out the first time in about 3 months, the motor would stall out every time I started to open the throttle. Upon getting home and...

2002 Alumacraft MV 1544 AW Makeover

Not yet. So far all my duck hunting is done wadding in the swamp. I may try to do some coastal or river duck hunting if I ever build me a blind. The main reason I painted the boat camouflage is to hide any imperfections that may show after bumping into drifting logs on the river, hitting...

2002 Alumacraft MV 1544 AW Makeover

"What shaft length did you get?" I picked mine up at Amazon for $720 +tax (free shipping). It was the 12 volt 55# thrust Co-pilot with the 48" shaft. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MQNSLU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 The price is back up to $815 now. I didn't...

2002 Alumacraft MV 1544 AW Makeover

I still get about 20mph against current and about 23-24 with current. That's loaded with all fishing gear, cooler and 2 people. BTW, I'm a big guy, 6'3" 280 lbs.

2002 Alumacraft MV 1544 AW Makeover

Well I've had a few opportunities to take ol' Stump Bumper out since the makeover was complete. I am very pleased with the performance of the pods. The top of the transom is no where near as close to the water line as before. The water actually only comes up to about half an inch below the...

    Adjustable Tiller Extension

So I finally made a replacement for the wally world special Minn Kota tiller extension. Over the years it's gotten really loose and I never really could use it for the throttle due to the twist tighten feature for the adjustable length. I went to Lowe's today and bought a 1-1/2" and 1" piece...

    2002 Mercury 25hp 2 stroke Tiller

Ok guys, I'm looking for some advice from the marine mechanically inclined. On my 15' mv Alumacraft aw, is the 25hp Merc. Ever since I got the boat from my father-in-law, the motor has always pulled hard to the left (pushing the front of the boat to the right). No matter what speed the boat...

How to make this floor flat?

The previous owner of my boat, my father in law, used a simpler solution. There are 3 1"? x 1"? x 4"? pieces of wood screwed to the center of the rib. The front of the floor slides under the front deck about a 1/2" and the sides are notched out for the ribs. The floor is marine grade...

CL 1752 Sea Nymph - To buy or not to buy? (Nevermind, sold!)

Thinking about taking on a new project. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Doe the price look reasonable? https://eastnc.craigslist.org/boa/4971632105.html

Homemade Shallow - medium depth anchor?

I know this topic has been covered many times, but I just wanted to share my idea/build. I plan to used 3m 5200 instead of PVC cement so that it will hold up to some brackish/salt water use. I will also be using some 1/2" stainless steel screws to secure the dowel rods inside the pvc piping...

2002 Alumacraft MV 1544 AW Makeover

If you're talking about the side walls, they're 1\2" marine grade plywood wrapped with carpet. They're drilled to the ribs. It's the same thing the floor is made of.

2002 Alumacraft MV 1544 AW Makeover

Managed to make some progress today. Got the Merc, trolling motor and bilge pump back on and wired up. Installed the cargo net I ordered. Turned out it was a little too long at the bottom, but it'll work. I've got the rod rack base reinstalled. Also got the registration on. Right now I've...

2002 Alumacraft MV 1544 AW Makeover

Well sunshine and warm weather equals me getting a lot done today. I was able to spray the entire perimeter and both decks with 3m rubberized underbody coating and paint everything tan after it dried. It turned out really nice and the 3m gives the decks a non slip feature. I was also able to...
