    1989 Evinrude 50hp

Sounds like a plan, probably get around to it next week after work for a night or two. I'll keep it posted with what I find. Thanks for the help!

    1989 Evinrude 50hp

Alright as an update.... Not going to get to run it tonight but more notes from yesterday. I did disconnect the linkage to test that and forgot to mention it last night. When I do this the motor dies immediately. Also will not start with the blades closed. When making adjustments to the idle...

    1989 Evinrude 50hp

Alright so got some time this evening and played around with it. I'm able to adjust the idle by moving the throttle roller. Found the engine block and water coming out is ice cold even after running for 15-20 minutes. Also, I did replace the thermostat at the beginning of the year. After...

    1989 Evinrude 50hp

We attempted to do a link and sync and the motor would not even run after we did that. So honestly we just played around with different adjustments trying to get it back to running and went from there. Yes all the parts we replaced were OEM including the carb rebuild kits and thermostat. Maybe...

    1989 Evinrude 50hp

So I've done a lot of little work on this motor, carb rebuild, spark plugs, fuel filter, water pump, new fuel line with primer ball, etc. However it's still acting up. It'll sit and idle in the driveway with muffs on at 1400rpm, but when in the water it tries to idle at 500 rpm and just dies...

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

Thats a lot like what mine looks like too lol. Think I'll start taking the wire brush to it today and I'm thinking i'll try the roll on flexseal and see if that seals it up. If it does then maybe I'll coat it back over with bedliner to give it a little more durability. Easiest and cheapest...

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

Soooooo...... update time on my leaky friend quickly turning foe..... Aside from the issue with the motor and trailer still she is still leaking....a lot.... My patches worked great no problems but looking closer now I believe it is my keel that is the problem. So I did a little looking around...

    1989 Bass Tracker TX17

I don't have measurements for the seats but I can get them later when I go home for lunch. The console on the other hand is an interesting one. When I got the boat the console was not very secure to say the least. It came with an aluminum piece that supported the port side by getting screwed...

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

If I had to redo that every year I'd be ok with it as long as the water doesn't come in anymore lol

Alright, other than that thoughts? look ok?

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

I did clean the aluminum and rough it up with sandpaper I didn't use a chemical etch though. How would a chemical etch effect any reaction between 5200 and aluminum. Also no where on the tube did it say anything about prepping with a chemical etch, just to make sure there was some roughness in...

    1989 Bass Tracker TX17

Well on the water it was good.....for the most part, found out my bilge pumps work great. So had my buddy check out how much gas I had, bad idea. He said half tank, I had less than a gallon which resulted in surging of power in the motor as the little bit of gas in the tank sloshed around. So...

    1989 Bass Tracker TX17

Quick update, Patched up some leaks and added stickers, we'll see how long they last but for now at least they look pretty BA I think

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

Alright so last night I made and applied the other two patches I needed. This time I took pictures though since everyone loves pictures. So as discussed before, measured and cut out patches to fit over the cracks I had. I did also round the corners, get rid of any sharp edges and rough up the...

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

Fair point lol. However I think I got it all figured out and put the first of 3 patches on last night. Going to cut out and apply the other two on Wednesday most likely. Then it's just the waiting game.....if nothing else 5200 will teach you to have patience! Cure time is crazy long lol...

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

So I drew a quick pic on paint, is this ok? if I use the .125" aluminum I have this is what it is going to end up like with that big gap between the patch and the hull because of the rivet heads. Now if I used something like aluminum Flashing I may be able to get a better form fit around the...

    leaky rivets.....an after thought

Yup I got that, however if I were to patch it with the .125" aluminum I have not that would be tough as all my cracks are just hairline cracks and jump from one rivet to another so the rivets would keep the patch off the actual body of the boat and where the crack is by a little bit. I could...
