    Here’s a 1989 14 ft. Spectrum V bottom conversion.

First off, it looks beautiful. What thickness plywood did you put down? I would like to change mine to a deck, but am worried about the total weight with adding framing for storage. My 15hp pushes me around fine, but adding another guy in the boat kills the speed.

    Hull covering? Paint, Gluvit, Steelflex?

I had leaks in my old aluminum. I grinded the old paint from the seams and rivets inside and out, applied Gluvit to all grinded areas, primed, then painted. No leaks ever since. I strongly recommend Gluvit. I thinks there is some pics of the process in my boat thread.

    Help. Front deck frame ideas.

Yes. Thank you. After a couple hours of staring at it I figured it out. Now tomorrow to buy a new piece of plywood, seal it up, then carpet. I reconfigured the framing under my floors and removed wood there to use for the front. Should actually be less weight with all the hardware and wood I...

    Help. Front deck frame ideas.

So I put up some pics of what I have. I want to make a small front deck even with the front bench seat. I can attach a bracket of some kind to the seat, but I cant figure out how level it up throughout. If I have a blueprint I can build it no problem (I just cant SEE it, if you know what I...

    cam roller replacement

1979 evinrude 9.9 My cam roller has and indention and I plan to replace it soon, my question is do I have to take off the whole carb to replace it? I took the breather off and it looks like it can just pop off, but I don't want to put that much force on it and accidently break the arm or...

Motor up or down while trailering?

Yeah..... So I usually have the motor up when trailering, but the other day I decided to leave it down after a day of fishing to see how the trailer would react on the ride home. Everything felt good and went smooth until I had to back into my driveway. Not enough clearance. Long story short, I...

    14ft 1960s Foremost

She finally got an interior paint job! And a couple cup holders to boot. Seeing what you started with and being able to track your progress on this site is awesome and gives me more motivation to continue to work on the boat. If only I could stop fishing for a while (yeah right) to add a few...

14 Foot FOREMOST VEE-BOTTOM by JC PENNY??

The 9.9 scoots me around pretty good. I don't know the actual weight of the boat since I cant find any info on it. With all the flooring, motor, trolling motor, gas tank, battery, anchor, tackle, and myself that total comes to around 525lbs. I can get to 14.5mph...

14 Foot FOREMOST VEE-BOTTOM by JC PENNY??

If you find any info can you please post it? From looking at other posts and web searching I believe my boat is a Foremost. Late 60's to early 70's. it came with an old Seaking trailer. You can view my pics and see if it matches your boat. The interior had a light blue paint on it, but has since...

    Homemade shallow water anchor suggestions

Does anyone have any pics or diagrams of some homemade shallow water anchors to be installed on a 14ft v bottom? I was thinking some kind of PVC creation. Any help appreciated.

Who says you need a big boat?!

Was out smallmouth fishing on Lake St Clair on Friday and this girl decided she wanted my 1/2oz red eye shad. Not in season so returned back to the water safely. But what fun!

    1982 Johnson 9.9 - recoil starter issues

I had the same issue on my 1979 9.9 Evinrude when I rebuilt the starter. Everything looked fine, then I realized I tightened the main both down too much and it was preventing the coil from retracting the rope. I had to find the right amount of pressure for it to work properly and stay in place.

    9.9 Stall at idle

So after fixing my o-ring issue on my steel OMC fuel tank the leak at the connector stopped and all was good for 2 weeks. Forward 2 weeks of the tank sitting in the garage (to busy to get out) and the 90 degree heat here in Michigan, I went to fire up the motor before planning on going out the...

    14ft 1960s Foremost

After a little more grinding my Gluvit arrived and I got to sealing. Was amazed how much it covered and I still have a bunch left from the quart. Will eventually do the inside. After letting it sit overnight it cured nicely. 90 degrees in Michigan now really helped. This morning I got to priming...

    14ft 1960s Foremost

So after some successful fishing trips, cleaning the carb on the motor, and fixing a leak at the fuel tank o-ring I decided this is going to be my learning boat. I stripped the inside out down to the bench seats and flipped her over in the yard. To much silicone! After identifying the leaks I...

    Coat it over paint?

The PO had painted my tin inside and out. Now it is leaking at seams and rivets more than I am comfortable with. Can I use Gluvit or Coat It directly over the paint or will I need to sand down to bare aluminum? The interior is covered with the flooring I installed and would not be visible. I...
