    Jon Boat Decking materials

I used 1/8" aluminum in a rebuild a while back. Removed the wood from the floor, added some more support then the aluminum. It's posted here back in June " 1998 Tracker Transformation/ rebuild. I got the metal at a local scrap yard, the sheets were about 4 x 5 and cost me about the same if I had...

    Dayum BIG striper!

Great fish. The SC state record for striper is 63 pounds , that fish was 49 1/2" long. Do you know what it bit, menhaden or eel? What state? That's a awesome catch, looks like it could eat a 5 lb plus fish

    1998 Tracker Transformation/ Remodel

Every hinge was pop riveted on from the factory and every single one was broken off of the door/ hatch it was supposedly fastened too. Now each and every hinge has Stainless steel screw with lock nuts holding them in place, either 8-32 or 10-24 I can't remember. The shouldn't break And here's...

    1998 Tracker Transformation/ Remodel

Guys I've been messing with this boat on and off for a long time. Many members on here have answered a lot of questions and been very helpful. I don't have a lot of step by step photos as some do. This boat had sat outside its entire life and was pretty rough. Here goes trying to post some...

Electronics console for Jon boat ideas?!?

Darrin that looks nice. Hook horns, you could look at some of the west coast salmon boats, a lot of them are huge tiller boats, you may get you an idea for yours. Alumaweld and Willie are some brands.

    Plywood covering other than carpet

I have a project boat and I used the exercise mat stuff in it. I'm sure it's not near as good as the sea dek or hydro tek stuff. I ordered $50.00 worth to get free shipping and have enough to cover the area twice, I did not cover the bow. I read mixed reviews about it used on boats, some praised...

    Redecking a Bass Tracker

I used 1/8" also in my latest project. I added some 3/4" tubing lengthwise for more support. With just the factory ribs running the width of the boat, the 1/8 had a good bit of flex/ give. This was with it just laying on the floor, not screwed down. Mabey with it screwed it would have helped but...

    I said I wouldn't. Then I Did.

Do you know the name or make of the rod holders that are down each side of the boat? I've looked but can't seem to find any like them.

    I said I wouldn't. Then I Did.

Very nice Mr. Ldubs. I'm sure that top will make the rainy day trips good also. Post us up some pictures when you get it. I love those west coast style boats. You don't see many on the east coast with the foreword helm and top.

Need some brainstorming on a storage area - picture enclosed

I installed this tackle hatch about 17 years ago. I really like it. It has three boxes in it. I usually have all my crappie jigs in it but have removed the boxes and had a big spotlight in it. I'm working on a project boat that has a smaller console. The bought tackle hatches were too large for...

    Stuck pedestal

Jason, some of the 3/4" pedestals are threaded on the end,not sure of the proper name. It could be that the boat may have had two different types of pedestals on it. You could try to spin/ unscrew it. If it is like the one in the picture,I'd just put some PB blaster, liquid wrench or something...

    Sea Ark 1652 tunnel jet?

Thanks for all the replies fellas. The owner was honest when I asked him the same questions, with two fishermen totaling approx 430 lb, cooler with a couple bags of ice,Mabey add a trolling motor and another battery how would it do? He said he doubted it would plane out. It looked to be in good...

    What wood for seats?

Weldor, I don't know your location but if you are anywhere close to cypress swamps or close to any local small sawmilling operations, you can get a good price on " green" Lumber. Cypress would be a good choice if there's any to be had in your area. Another long lasting choice is white oak, heavy...

    Sea Ark 1652 tunnel jet?

I saw for sale a 1652 tunnel jet with 1999 40 Yamaha jet, 40 hp powerhead,so I'm thinking Mabey 25 jet hp. Does any members have anything close to that set up? I was thinking with two fishermen weighing in at over 200 each, throw in some tackle and a cooler or two, would it have enough power to...

    What's it worth, 40 hp

I have a 1989 Yamaha 40 hp remote steer. It runs good. The compression is 115 - 118. I found a jet drive and I'll have to sell this to get some of the money. It's not showroom new looking by no means but doesn't look like it fell off the boat going down the interstate either. I'm just kinda...

    Transom screws ?

10-4 fellas it IS a wood transom. I'm unsure if they leak any. If the do it was not noticible. I let the oat sit in water for a day and didn't really see any water inside. The boat has been sitting for a year or so. The rubber washers on a couple of the screws look cracked and broken. Here's all...

    Transom screws ?

I am going to put some new paint on a project boat real soon. The transom is in good shape. It has several screws on the very rear / back of the transom. Some looks to be below the waterline. They have some type of gasket on them. My question is should I try to back them out and put a little...
