Old tin boat repair in my area?

I have an old aluminum polarkraft ski boat. The hull is in fairly good condition, but there were problems under the riveted in bench seats. I started repairs but I really don't have the time to finish and get it back together. I am looking for someone in my area to complete the job. (Southaven...

    Lower gearbox plug washers?

Thank you for the replies.. The whole reason for asking was,.. I figured someone had looked at this at some point.. I didn't know if they could be had(from a hardware store) in the proper size for my particular application.. That was my next quest.. The cost is of no consequence,.. I was more...

    Lower gearbox plug washers?

Are these just nylon washers?? Seems to me it would be cheaper and easier to get them at Lowes, and not pay .50 cents a piece.. Stan

Evinrude/Johnson, Mercury?? For me it came down to parts cost, and availability.. Interchangeability was another factor.. Stan

What am I ?? do you know ???

I just picked up a motor for my project Polar Kraft(14' 250lbs).. 1960 Evinrude Fastwin 18hp.. Nice balance of weight to power.. Should push me and mine across the water just fine.. and I can lift it on and off by myself when ever I want.. My Sports Kraft cruiser had a 1972 50hp Johnson on it...

What am I ?? do you know ???

I'm in the northwest corner in Mississippi.. few miles south of Memphis, Tn.. I've just started working on a PolarKraft that I'll need a motor for.. Some of the specs on similar boats show a max of 60hp.. but I think mine would be just fine with one much smaller.. Stan

What am I ?? do you know ???

The Merc's are very nice, but I have my eye out for a Johnson/Rude, in a 15-20HP.. Everything I see is up in you part of the country.. If you see them down here(rarely), they are either junk, or people want a fortune for them.. I do have an old Mercury 402 I have been tinkering with for some...

    Rivet length

From what I've seen so far, you can get a 1/4" x 2" rivet,.. but it's going to be a round head.. The brazer heads are 1 1/4".. I will be going the SS route where I need to.. Brazer head everywhere else..

    Rivet length

Dale,.. All I can say is,.. Great minds must think alike.. :LOL2: I was considering the very thing you did.. I use that marine heat shrink in my radio hobby.. Down size the bolts just a bit and I wouldn't have to oversize the holes.. The SS washers over the nylon is nice,.. hadn't thought of...

Thanks Dale.. I should have been more specific.. I'm looking for a brazer head rivet in 1/4", and 5/16", in 2" or better.. this is for replacing a transom in one of my old boats.. Its what the manufacturer used.. I may have to gather phone numbers and start calling around.. or do something...

What am I ?? do you know ???

Those kinds of folks always have a story.. Some guy has offered them twice the asking price to hold it until,.. bla bla bla.. And there it still sits.. They think just because the item is no longer produced, its worth a mint.. Or someone told them it was some RARE something and they desperately...

Were you not on the fence from the start?? Let him sit on it.. Its heart breaking to try and deal with someone that just doesn't want to deal.. They feel that they are sitting on a gold mine and nothing will change their mind.. That boat down here would probably not get much over scrap price...
