So you were between the dam at 72 and the dam at Carpentersville? Where did you launch? I have fished below 72 from Voyagers Landing at 90 on the west bank and above the cville dam from Fox River Shores ramp on the east bank. I've done both stretches in my canoe and my boat.

Yeah, I have used it off and on in my Suburban. Mileage drops 30%, power decreases. When the stuff is 30% or more LESS than gasoline, I buy it. Right now it's within forty cents or so of the price of gas up by me.

On my 17' aluminum canoe I sometimes run a Minnkota Endura 30lb motor on a good 12V battery. Speed is about 2-2.5MPH. Fine for small water but no range at all on bigger water. Get some kind of little self contained gas motor
