    Extending tongue

I knew I should have included a pic in the original post, thanks guys. My plan is to completely replace the tongue I have now so it’s a solid one piece.

    Extending tongue

I’m kinda wondering if extending it is going to put the tongue weight where it needs to be anyways. Here is a pic of how it was sitting on the trailer, mind you I’ve just got the boat and haven’t even towed it yet so I haven’t a clue how it acts behind the truck. The wheels are way forward under...

    Extending tongue

I know It probably doesn’t work like this but my thinking is I’m moving the boat forward 16-18” could even go as far as 20-22” forward to put the transom at the end of the trailer, and extending the tongue 24”. In my eyes it should be very similar to how it was before. I’m picking up the...

    Extending tongue

The length won’t be a problem, I can fit it in the garage. I just want to get rid of the shoty job the previous owner did on it. Rather start fresh and if I’m starting fresh figured just order the length I want so it’s all one piece. Also figure I’ll do away with the tilt since it’s so loose and...

    Extending tongue

My 15ft Grumman can with what I can only imagine was at one point in time a jet ski trailer. It’s a tilt trailer that looks like someone extended the tongue just enough to get the boat on. The transom hangs over the rear of the bunks by a good 6-8”, and the bunks are probably 10-12” over the end...

    Jack plate on a 9.9

Did you notice any difference? Do you run the motor above the bottom of the transom being set back? I picked up the material (4” aluminum angle) and I’m going to run 2 pieces of plywood for the clamping board so I should be around 5-5.5” of setback.

    Jack plate on a 9.9

Thanks for the reply, I plan on building the jackplate with the Dillion racing plans. Having a removable plate on it that the motor holes will be drilled into. So when the time comes to put a bigger motor on I in theory could pull the engine plate off the jack plate, make a new one up and throw...

    Jack plate on a 9.9

Have a 1987 Grumman fisherman 14 and a 1988 Johnson 9.9, I’m redoing the transom this weekend and was planing on building a jack plate to help the little motor all it can. I put the motor on the boat for the first time and to my surprise the cavitation plate is dead even to the bottom of the...
