Done. The whole idea is crazy. The energy required to boil alcohol out of sour mash just seems counter productive.

    Trailer bunk covers

Sounds like it should work. I have never looked closely at one but if the plastic is 1/4" thick a 4" post should have a 3 1/2" inside diameter which is the same as the width of a 2x4. I would think a boat would slide off of it nicely.

    Building a trailer

On the light kit, the wiring harness is a light 22 gauge. I would suggest using heavier wiring. The ones I got from Harbor Freight with light wiring turned to dust in a year.

    Building a trailer

I bought two sets, exact price was $13.68 per set with Prime Membership. That included two day shipping. I get specials emailed to me on occasion, this was one of them. I'm not sure if they are still available for that price.

    Building a trailer

They are well over 5 years old LOL. I will keep an eye on them. The lake I go to is only about 3 miles from my house. If I ever take it on the highway it will get some new ones. Here is the old boat I am going to put on it. It has some thick paint that I am going to strip off before I repaint...

    Building a trailer

I got around to mounting the tail lights and fenders over the weekend. I still need to wire it. After grinding off some old welds in the tongue I can prime and paint it. The fenders are from a Harbor Freight trailer that never got used. I just scuffed them and painted with Rustoleum Gray. I used...

    1958 12hp Gale parts?

I believe that power head off of an old Evinrude/Johnson 1956 15 HP and 57 and later 18 HP will fit. It looks like they have the same block with just different bore. You will be gaining HP plus you will have roller bearings in the crankshaft and rods instead of the flat bearings the 12 HP used...

    Building a trailer

Got the springs and axle together today. The springs and hangers are some I bought awhile back from Northern Tool and never used. The axle is one I took off an old popup i junked years ago. The wheels and tires were $20 off of Craigslist.

    Building a trailer

I got some metal from a grain auger my cousin was scrapping and decided to give a try at building a trailer for my v bottom boat. He tongue is a piece of round stock. The frame is some thin metal Chanel iron with a couple pieces of angle iron for cross members. Once welded I used an angle...

    1957 Sea King 12

Apparently doesn't matter. They all take the same carb kit based on what I'm finding.

    1958 Johnson RDS-20 35hp rebuild

I have been running 24:1 Pennzoil Watercraft. I did replace the condensers along with the points. The coils look like they have been updated in the past.

    1957 Sea King 12

Thanks for the quick reply. I replaced the points but not the coils. They look like they have been replaced at some time. I will start with the carb kit. Good to know about it being similar to the E/J 10 hp. I kinda thought it was a detuned version of the 15/18.

    1957 Sea King 12

I have an old Sea King 12 hp that I picked up for 50 bucks a little while back. I put a new impeller, points, and gear lube. No sign of water in the lower unit but I will probably replace all of the seals this winter. I cleaned the carb and everything looks good except for the float. It works...

    1958 Johnson RDS-20 35hp rebuild

Here is a pic of the Evinrude Lark 35. It is a tiller with push button start and kill switches. It pushes the 16 ft Starcraft along really well. I bought the boat motor and trailer on an auction this spring for $175.00. It hadn't been used in about 10 years. It started right up even with the old...

    1958 Johnson RDS-20 35hp rebuild

I have a similar motor. It is a 1959 Evinrude 35 Lark. Mine has a tiller handle with a pushbutton start and kill button on the motor. It is on a 16 foot aluminum Starcraft and pushes it along very well.
