    Crack in transom cap?

    The wood is totally rotted out & I have to replace it. On a Gregor, it is not a separate cap, I just used the term for lack of a better way to describe it.

    My other thread was hijacked a bit so I thought I try again. Gregor aluminum, 12', 1977. I'm starting the transom repair and came across this crack in the cap. Thoughts on repair? I don't weld, fyi. I think the one rivet was placed by PO. Couple more photos. Hopeless? TIA

    I wasn't planning to replace the cap because of the welded corner pieces. Like I said, I don't weld. To get the transom board out/in, I was planning to go the route of cutting, then patching the knees with plates & screws. Which brings up one of my next questions. The knee braces on it are not...

    There are four of them on my (new to me) Gregor. Two on the transom facing out, two near the bow on the inside of the boat.
