    Tracker Aluminum Flooring Questions

As everyone mentioned, make sure you put the rigid insulation foam in between the ribs. It's the pink stuff that comes in 4x8 sheets if buying from Home Depot (at least in my area). .090 aluminum is a common floor thickness because it's also the common thickness that a lot of drop-in hatches...

Storing Boat on Water all Summer

Thanks for the suggestion that sounds like it would work. However, my lot is way to steep for my 4x4 tacoma to make it up and down without tearing it all up. I've seen quite a few people on this lake do something similar, where they build a rail/track setup from the water up the bank 15-20 ft...

Storing Boat on Water all Summer

So how do you go about properly grounding the wiring system on a boat? Are we talking about just a sacrificial anode somewhere on the hull like someone previously mentioned? My boat has a manual pull start engine, so there is no negative to ground to on my engine like I read in another article...

Storing Boat on Water all Summer

Thanks for all the suggestions! I actually already have some some nylon washers I purchased when doing the rebuild of this boat, so I'll make sure to use them. I've got a ton of scrap PVC pipe and fittings laying around so I'll see what i can come up with for supporting the canopy. Hopefully...

Storing Boat on Water all Summer

Thanks Jim I appreciate it! Did your boat actually sink when your bilge failed? Was it deep enough to actually be fully submerged? I made sure my bilge was installed with a lot of care. I feel confident it will always work, however my next bigger more expensive boat will absolutely have two...

Storing Boat on Water all Summer

I agree that a covered slip with boat lift would definitely be the best solution and that will eventually happen. However, lots of things rebuild and spend money on with this house and covered slip is at least one year out. I ordered some snap fasteners that are stainless and made for boat...

Storing Boat on Water all Summer

The Wife and I moved into our new house about 5 months ago on Lake Robinson, SC. It's been a dream of ours to live on the lake and we are very grateful to be here, but this house and yard needs a lot of work and has been huge undertaking so far. A couple years back I did a full restoration to my...

    Waterproofing Plywood Deck Help

I also have used the old timers formula and its very easy to apply with paint roller and is cheap compared to epoxy. Also, carpet glue still sticks very well to the old timers where as I bet you would need to rough up the epoxy for a proper bond.

    Polar Kraft 1448 build

Looks fantastic so far! Really great attention to detail!

    Casting Decks

Also depends on your situation. For instance, I live on 10hp restricted lake so a 1648 jon is about as big as I can go for that size motor. If I deck all the way to gunnels it provides me with a larger usable area and the boat feels much bigger and this is a positive no matter what I’m fishing...

    Seat Pedestal Pole Storage Ideas

I was watching a youtube video and saw this cool clamp that held the seat pedestal when not in use. I need something like this for my boat. Have you guys ever seen this online or do you think its home made?

    Sears 1436 Build

This is a cool build and great fab skills. Keep us updated as you progress. I’m also fishing out of a 50 yearold 1436 that I’ve completely redone and really curious how your sponsons are going to turn out on the water as far as adding stability.

Battery Mounted under deck with OUT battery box

Finally got the trolling motor and battery rigged up on the front of the boat and I can’t believe the difference it make versus having it on the transom. This trolling motor is just a cheap 30 pound Minn Kota that sales for $90 on Amazon and its perfect for this 1436. I’ve got a 114amp hour...

    Front deck rebuild

That’s looks great! Your metal working skills are top notch. I’m stuck to building decks and hatches with plywood for now.

Battery Mounted under deck with OUT battery box

I got it worked out so that the battery is sitting pretty much flat. I have some aluminum L channel that I will be using to make a tray for battery to sit in and hold it. Still not sure how I will strap it or protect it from water, but I’ll probably end using some rubber boots and engineer some...

    My trolling motor went overboard.

Sounds like that would work for sure. Guess I should have shown how I attached the two pieces of wood. The bottom piece is a 2x6 and the top is a 4x4 post that I ripped on the table saw. I then used 4 3” exterior grade lag screws to tie them together. These lag screws are designed to hold a...

    My trolling motor went overboard.

Here is what I’m doing on my boat. Again, this mount will get through bolted to deck and I’ll use something a little bigger than 1/4 size bolts with some big washers.

    My trolling motor went overboard.

I’m really surprised you haven’t gotten any feedback on this yet. First off, man that sucks and I feel for ya! To make sure this doesn’t happen again you need to make a very over built L shaped wood block and it needs to be through bolted to the boat with stainless bolts and washers. I will post...
