    Welded or rivits

It is 100% for avoiding welding. Welding aluminum is tricky. As can be seen on some Weldbilts or my Rhino. Too much heat and fatigued around the perimeter of the weld bead that is several times stronger than the aluminum itself and there you will have a crack. Anyways, it's a dead horse. Choose...

    Weldcraft vs Blazer

Idk anything about Weldcraft, but Blazer builds some really nice rigs.

    Welded or rivits

I completely demolished the Rhino I've posted on here a few times. .125" thick everywhere and good welds. Aluminum will crack around a weld almost for sure. How long it takes, who knows. I didn't do anything crazy in mine but I wasn't paddling in a pond either. When people bash rivets though...

Jet Ski Sponsons on a Jon Boat

Haha they are actually for handling and they grab the water as the hull rolls port or starboard. A flat bottom boat turns flat though so they will serve zero purpose other than reducing spray depending on where you mount them.

    2018 Tohatsu 30hp Tested

Yep, hate to say I told ya so haha. Been there with a similar Tohatsu.

    lowe 1648t qeustion

Not a fan at all of the metal clamped to the transom personally, but removing that will necessitate a jack plate of some sort. It will not be ideal at all to have the engine that low in the water, especially with a tunnel hull. I'm curious if that is by chance a long shaft engine on a short transom.

    Motor size question

Only you know how you plan to use your toys. I personally would never power a boat with less than what it's rated for. You can always run the 90hp at the same speed a 70hp runs, but not vice versa. And sometimes the larger engine can be more fuel efficient cruising at "x"mph versus the smaller...

Two thumbs up. That is awesome.

    1448 grizzly tiller recommendation

No problem. I agree on the used versus new price. I'm not completely sure about the Tohatsu so if I'm wrong hopefully someone can correct me, but the Tohatsu and Yamaha 40's and 50's are 40 something cubic inches I think where as the Merc 40/50/60 are 59 cubic inches. A 50hp makes 50hp...

    1448 grizzly tiller recommendation

I see you are in MO, but just a heads up, Backwoods Landing here in Huntsville, AL is the largest dealer of Tohatsu outboards as well as WeldBilt boats. If you looking for a new TLDI they might be worth the drive. I would love the better fuel efficiency myself, but I don't like the thought of...

    1448 grizzly tiller recommendation

Turbo Todd is speaking some truth. I can't imagine going back to a 25hp haha. Most people will say 30mph is plenty fast and although I completely disagree, the ability to do 30mph at half throttle is great. I have a 50hp Merc on my 1448. 2 stroke, 3 cylinder, 59 cubic inches. I would highly...

    Wheel Spacers

Good to hear! Summit racing has way more than the name implies. We even use them here at work to source items for the local companies that maintain and build military aircraft.

    Always check your springs...

I'm willing to bet you would have never seen that honestly. That looks like it started as a very hairline stress fracture that turned into complete metal fatigue. I am surprised to see two mishaps like this on boat trailers. In the offroad world, the leaf spring crowd can break them often, but...

    Boat Info

If they are both .100" thick in the size you want it's just going to come out to what you want. Double check the Lowe though. They might be .080" thick. I don't think you'll go wrong either way. My buddy has been beating on his riveted Lowe for over a decade and it is a tank.

    1448 grizzly tiller recommendation

If you want to stick to the recommended rating, a 25hp Yamaha will scoot that thing. I had the 2cylinder ESH version. 32mph on a 12 pitch and it could have taken a 13 easily. With me, my girl and two dogs I was around the same weight and it would do 25mph. If you can find the 3 cylinder...

Newb question - stability Lone Star vs Alumacraft (14'ers)

I got one dollar on the white one. Looks like the more stable of the two to me.

    thinking about buying a kayak

I can understand that. I love my boat, but I got wayyyyyyy more miles in my kayak. It's been used in white water, flat water, the big river, summer and winter, at the beach and sometimes has a dog on it. I couldn't trade my little walmart yak (gift for rebuilding my bud's jet ski engine) for...
