Sweet project! I am now going to do the same thing. How has the velcro held up, and where/what type did you get? I see a lot of comments online saying the glue comes off of the velcro. Let me know!

Yeah I was thinking of that, but then I thought that doing aluminum riveted to the gunwale might be more sturdy and would reduce vibration (with the right support). I guess carpeted plywood would be a bit cheaper though. It just comes down to preference, but I thought some experienced input...
