    Jack plate

Dropped it about an inch. Ventilation gone. Even trimmed up one notch. Ran lined a striped @$$ ape! So me at 225 or better, my son at 200 or better, 2 coolers 2 bags ice, 4 poles trolling motor, 2 batteries, 1 starting battery, 2 down riggers 20#s lead, tackle boxes. 20mph. Son was out of...

    Float pods , hinged

Equal with the sides, little bit lower then I'd like, flush with the hull. Going to re.edy the height by putting a uhmw wedge behind the angle. That should raise them a bit.

    Float pods , hinged

I got to test the pods finally with a little power! At about 1/2 throttle, when pods are level vs up, I gain 2-4 mph, haven't been able to really test at WOT yet..... I do get a bit of spray still from the gap in between the transom and gap in the pods, despite being sandwiched with foam...

    Jack plate

Jack plate could handle much larger motor i suspect. Kind of a copy of plans found all over the internet where they say 35 plus hp motors. All mounts were 1/2 stainless and 1/4" AL angle. I think my 15 weighs 115#s. Shows absolutely no flex. Float pod thread should make its way to the top...

    Jack plate

Well 1st run out was good. Painfully idled around the lake during the break in period. After a couple hours at progressive throttle positions, was able to hit WOT for 1 minute. Wife and I, boat rigged hit 22mph on GPS. No ventilation with motor in upmost position. (Highest on jackplate) Took...

    Jack plate

just got done with my home made jack plate. Really happy without it turned out. Can't wait till they open the boat launches up. Pretty tight fit. Tried to squeeze as much set back as I could with the AL spacers I made. Little rocking back and forth and she fell into place.

    remote troller steering

put a limit switch on to control the tile. When I get to an extreme left on the motor it tilts up out of the water. Would like to get a little more, but was having a clearance problem so might have to relocate a longer actuator. I think I'm out of the water when tilted, but cant water test...

    remote troller steering

finally got around to finishing my front mount trolling motor steering project. I had previously mounted it all to a 2x8, but it was uglier then homemade soap and lacked a tilt function. The speed of the trolling motor is controlled by a pot and a PWM, so i have unlimited speed control...

    Jon Boat Downrigger Mounts

That's the only hang up I have with them, but the trade off is so much better in my opinion. I really like then as we fish alot for Kokannee and smaller fish. So nice not to drag around a fish all day.

Thank you sir! That is a brilliant solution, I think I may have those materials, or enough around to crank that up!!

    Jon Boat Downrigger Mounts

The angle on the inside was so I could connect the eye bolt of the turnbuckle to the plate. The Chamberlain releases, I cant say enough about. They crank down on one side so you can load up the pole and set light enough on the other side so small fish will still release em. Or crank em up if...

    Float pods , hinged

So my first attempt to deal with this is going be that gutter foam filter stuff. It would squish between the pod and boat when the gap closes. I reckon it will arrest the splash, but I wonder, will it have any affect on the drag? Its porosity would allow it to catch water I guess, but enough...

    Float pods , hinged

So if I'm already low, I can go up a country mile right?

Actually I think both of those images the pods are flooded. Seem to be missing lots of pictures from this morning.

    Float pods , hinged

Got her out today, splash between transom and pods is significant, so I'll have to do something about that. Seems to cost about 1-2mph. They do float the boat, however. Here I have 2 5 gallon buckets on the pods, 1 bucket in the boat, and 20 gallons of water dumped in the boat. Here is...

    Jon Boat Downrigger Mounts

Weather was to nasty today to get she who must be obeyed to give me a hand testing my new float pods, so I upgraded and rebuilt my downrigger mounts. Lost a total of 10 pounds by rebuilding the mounts with AL. I can move em up and down the boat if I have a partner fishing with me so...

    Float pods , hinged

Hoping to get it in the water this coming weekend. I still have my small outboard on there now, so if there's any drag it will likely show up dramatically. Going to try an simulate the extra weight of a larger motor by hanging buckets of lead bars off of her. See how much squat or lack of...

    Float pods , hinged

I cant see a need to drop em like that, other then to drain em. Might be nice when I'm trolling alone, definitely keep my trolling motors prop in the water.

    Float pods , hinged

Got the hinges and actuators all mounted up. Here's more pictures showing the positions at each end. Need to get them wired into their switches yet and seal up the access covers. Takes about 10 seconds to adjust from one extreme to the other.

    Float pods , hinged

Hinges are on the bottom of the pods, mounting to the angle in the picks, which is near flush to the hull. Or will be when they get here...... it's the gap on the side of the pod that I was initially concerned about. The bottom will be relatively smooth in the waterline. Once I get the hinges...
