    Hello. I have a 1986 Johnson outboard, 20 HP, 20 inch shaft. It needs the lower unit replaced. I think I can use 20/25/30/35 HP lower units, but I’m not sure what years are compatible with my ‘86. Anybody know?

    Carb, timing, or both?

    I have a ‘86 Johnson 20 on a 14 foot boat. It starts hard. I can chug around all day at idle speed when I’m trolling. Basically idling in gear gives me 2.5-3.0gps speed.
