how should i cook my bass

Like most others, bass isn't the best eatin' of all the game fish, but it ain't bad either. I only keep the 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 pounders and usually only a few. I've thrown back thousands of them. I prefer to use LCfishing's method of cutting them in smaller strips. Nothing compares to Specks and...

    around Polk County Florida

we don't have enough water to drown a minnow in up here in Clermont. I might have to sneak down to Polk County and look for some specks.

    Blue Bluegill!

Great pics! I absolutley LOVE Bluegill fishing with my 4wt Fly rod. Here in central Florida we have a wide variety of color patterns on them. It's really neat to see the variations.

    1985 Johnson 9.9hp

Didn't know that was possible on the SailMasters. I knew you could convert a long shaft, but I thought the SailMasters were made without the removable section.

    1985 Johnson 9.9hp

Forgot to mention that...it's a ROPE start.

    1985 Johnson 9.9hp

Just picked up a sweet little 9.9 Johnson for my Jon boat. Kind of confused though. The model number is a J10SELCOM. This would indicate a 1985 SailMaster. However, this is a "short shaft" motor so how could it be a SailMaster? Any thoughts? Thanks

    Which motor?

I live in central Florida also. I saw that motor yesterday in Craigslist. I'm sure the $7 is a misprint. He probably wants $700. It looks like a long shaft, too.

Using my 12 ft Jon without a launch ...

Froggy, I'm a fly-fisherman myself. I've got a couple of small ponds that you can't launch a boat in. One has a steep drop-off to the water. I have to hook the rope in the front of my boat to my truck and yank it up out of there when I'm done  .

    Which motor?

I'm guessing he didn't get the motor with the boat. It's too bad, because I'm sure a 9.9 would be perfect for that boat. There should be a plate on the transom giving a HP rating.

1990 Mariner 8HP long shaft- SLOW!

That's a screaming little machine. I'd love to get 20MPH with my 8HP.

1990 Mariner 8HP long shaft- SLOW!

OK! Upon further review, I have discovered that I have an extra-long shaft ( in most cases this would be a good thing  ). So, my cavitation plate is around 8" below the hull  . It's no wonder this thing is slow  . Do I need to waste my time with a jackplate of some...

1990 Mariner 8HP long shaft- SLOW!

Thanks guys. I imagine you could fabricate something similar if you had the material. Of course, if I found one for $42 shipped I'd be all over it.

1990 Mariner 8HP long shaft- SLOW!

Thanks for the reply Crazyman. I've heard folks talk about a manual jackplate. Would this be something worth looking into? I would basically be lifting the motor 5" or so. Does this kind of thing work on small aluminum boats or is the transom generally to weak? Obviously, I would want to...

1990 Mariner 8HP long shaft- SLOW!

I've got a new (to me) 12' semi v alum jon boat with a 1990 Mariner 8HP long shaft on it. I just put a new 9" pitch prop on it. I know the long shaft will slow it down some, but this thing will only do 12-13 mph and won't get on plane unless I put everything in the front. Does that sound...

    Panfish!

I'm with you on the excitement. My passion is flyfishing for bluegills, but with the full moon I'll be bobbing for shellcrackers also. =D>

    New guy introduction

Hey Folks, I've been lurking awhile and decided to join. This site has tons of info and I really enjoy viewing the projects. I've got 3 jon boats, one of which was recently added. My 5 yr old has taken a liking to fishing, so I picked up a 12' semi-v. It's a little safer than the shallow...
