Yes it will scratch off but its not designed to be the final coat it gives the paint something to adhere to. And sadly if unless you use a industrial gelcoat paint, if you slide your tin boat against the docks or rocks it will take off some paint.

Update: Took the family out this past weekend and the gps read 26mph with three adults and one baby. I was very pleased and surprised about the speed, Still need to make a few tweaks with the motor tilt/trim, I think I can hit the 30mph mark with just me onboard. Pics and video of the next...
