powerdrive v2 vs a cable driven TM

Well I have a cable steer and my buddy has pd steer and i prefer the cable only because the pd steer tends to over steer and I constantly have to steer back. With the cable steer it stops where I want it to. This over steer could be operator error?

    Battery maintaince?

After some research I found that most golf cart maintaince guys charge there carts 1-2 times a week and check water levels monthly during the golfing season, and quarterly during the off season. I fish on average of once a week so I will be checking my batteries monthly during the fishing...

    Cutting aluminum sheet

Just finished installing 15 sheets of 3/16" aluminum diamon plate. Cut it all with a circluar saw with a carbide blade. A grinder will work for small cut outs and raidus. You can cut nonfarus metals (aluminum, copper) with a carbide blade.[b]SAFTEY GLASSES A MUST[b], I would recomend ear plugs also.

    First Project

Sounds like the previous owner put some sort of silicone caulk on the rivets. As far as the motor bracket....It may have been for a kicker motor? trolling for walleye? Many possibilities with that boat, good luck and have fun.

Cleaning up the snake fest at the battery

Run all the wires to a bus bar (1 for each +/-) and a single wire from the bar to the battery. I think most of my wires are 14 gauge and I ran 12 gauge from the battery to the bar.

help me pick a sonar unit out

I have my eye on the HBird 596 DI unit also. With the higher resolution and other features it's the best unit for the lakes I fish. I fish all electric lakes so the gps will only be used for way points and speed.

You should be using 2 deep cycle batteries. Your starting battery will rob power form your deep cycle as it loses charge.

    TM Thrust info

I have a 1654 Grumman with a 12v 55lb bow mount tm and I fish electric only lakes and some tidal waters. It is the smallest tm I would recommend. I would get a bow mount if you fish from the bow, it gives you better boat control. If you want to jump from hole to hole it is nice to have the...

    Freshwater vs. Saltwater

As long as I'm fishing it really doesn't matter. I mostly fish fresh and tidal for bass, I'm not a big fan of just driving around with my line hanging out the back of the boat waiting for a fish to come along unless there is plenty of BEER. I would like to try some off shore fishing some time.

    trolling motor

I agree to get the biggest you can afford. It also depends on what kind of water do you fish? If you fish in lilly pads, grass mats or tidal water you will need a 24v or 36v motor with that being said I wouldn't go smaller then 55lbs.
