You can raise your motor some more. Depends on what shape your boat bottom is and your impeller you can raise it so the bottom is about even with the pin holding your grates in the front of the shoe. Seems high but the medium size pumps can usually run that high without cavitating.

If I didn't already have a motor I'd go with the Omc but there won't be enough of a difference to justify the switch from Yamaha to omc. Pretty much all the mods you can do to the omc you could do to your yamaha. As far as the hydro Tec kit your probably money ahead to just have them cut a head...

If that's the impeller that's been it this summer it honestly doesn't look that bad. Wouldn't hurt to sharpen it but I've seen a lot worse impellers and liners being used. Did they change the seals and the water pump impeller or the jet pumps impeller?

I'd use the 5052. Pretty sure that's what some boat builders use. 5052 will bend more then 6061 before breaking.

This is what I'm basing my conclusion on. Look at the distance marked by the red line and compare it to the pics of LarryMC's pics. It's a 4S impeller. I've seen the 4S impellers in a number of different finishes including freshly ground like they'd just finished grinding a 2S down :cry: .
