    seating mounting project

Thanks. I've been helped by reading and learning from the projects posted on here and hope this gives someone else some ideas that might help them.

    seating mounting project

After months of reading through this site and stressing over cutting holes in the boat I took the plunge. I have a Lowe 1652 that I wanted to mount a fishing seat to the ack bench. I have seen several on this site and took those ideas to install mine. I wanted the seat dead center and wanted to...

    Seat Reviews

Now you guys have me re-thinking my decision. I recently purchased an Attwood Venture (unpadded) from Walmart for around $40. I got the idea from bobberboy's Lowe 1236 modification; he reports that the seats are comfortable. An impressive modification and worth the time to read...

    Ideas for dock bumpers?

I imagine you are correct. We have also used old hose from a concrete pumper truck ; may still be difficult to find but it's another option. I'll be interested to hear how the noodles hold up. Would be a cheap and quick fix for me as well.

    Ideas for dock bumpers?

We used old firehose. With a piece of 1.5" PVC as the guide; we corrugated the hose along the dock. Very tough stuff and looks good. If this is just for the boat, then I used the store bought ones that you hang over the side.

    Lowe Big John 1648

Good looking boat. I have a 1652 Lowe that I put a bimini on. For fishing in open water where you are soaking a bait it worked well. Sitting in the middle of Galveston Bay drifting was when it came in very handy. Although half the time the sun was too low (early morning or late evening) for it...

Smart Tabs on a small boat

An interesting concept for a jon boat. I had hydraulic tabs on my flats boat but never thought about tabs for my 1652 Lowe. Going forward and running on plane makes sense. But if they are always down when you are going slow or stationary; does it make it difficult time when you reverse to get...

    Shock/piston for hatches

I would suggest a hatch spring. Simple, easy to install, no maintenance. Can get different sizes depending on the weight of the lid.

    Wang or Stickit anchor

Anyone ever use these systems for shallow water anchoring? I generally fish shore lines or structure that is fairly shallow. When the wind starts blowing me down the bank it would be nice to have a simple and quiet method to stop and fish a spot. Is it worth the $80 for the poles...

    Seat mount suggestions

It's amazing how difficult it is to find picture of how these seats mounts have been installed. I suppose everyone is focused on completing the project and forgets to take pictures along the way. Anyways, these are pictures from the Caveman's Jon Boat Mod. I like the clean look and creativitly...

    Seat mount suggestions

I would like to install the pin style boat seat mounts in my jon boat. I saw Caveman's ("Just my thinking" thread) idea of cutting a hole in the top and sliding two backer plates under the mount. This seems like a good idea but you cannot get a nut and washer under the plate. The other idea I...

    Just my thinking

Long time reader, first time to post. I am resurrecting this thread to get some long term feedback on the seat mount. I like how the seat was mounted as shown on page 1 and would like to do something similar. It has been suggested that I cut a hole in the back of the bench seat, dig out the foam...
