    Help with prop selection...

Understood. But just to be clear, I'm not looking to go faster, I'm just looking to avoid damage to my motor from operating outside the recommended RPM range. So in this case I'm reducing pitch.

    Help with prop selection...

Yeah, I'm stuck with the 9.9 due to HP limitations on the lakes in my area. The motor was in the shop earlier this year to be checked out, cleaned/tuned, and to have the water pump impeller replaced, so I'm sure it's running well. I spent a lot of time on the tach installation. I followed the...

    Help with prop selection...

I thought dropping pitch by 1 increases RPM by 200 (not 2000) ? So to go from 3900 RPM to 5100 RPM (just barely in the recommended range for my motor) I would need to drop the pitch by 6, which isn't possible. My current prop is a 3-blade, 9.25" 9-pitch. The best I could find was this...

    Help with prop selection...

Hi All, I have a Grumman 14' Fisherman with '89 2-stroke Mercury 9.9. I've framed and floored the boat using aluminum, and added 1/2" plywood decking, storage lockers, livewell, etc.. I also added a 55lb. thrust trolling motor + batteries. I figure just my mods have added somewhere around...

Where to mount trolling motor quick connect bracket on bow?

I have a new MK Powerdrive v2 with iPilot and the MKA-32 mounting bracket. The bracket base is a rectangular metal piece. I have a carpeted 3/4" plywood deck across gunwales at the bow of the boat that I want to mount the base to, but I have a few questions: 1) Does the centerline of the...

    Paint / Primer question

I'm getting ready to paint my boat. The previous paint was scratched in some places, but otherwise was in good shape. I sanded the entire boat, wiped it down with denatured alcohol, and primed the bare spots with zinc chromate. Then I primed the entire boat with two coats of Interlux...

    Newbie here.

I'm out in Warren County near the PA border. I'm lucky to have 3 great fishing reservoirs within 10 miles - Round Valley, Spruce Run, and Merrill Creek.

    Newbie here.

Hi there! I'm pretty much a noob myself, so "welcome". I'm in NJ too. What part are you from? I bought a used 14' Grumann deep-v "fisherman" last summer. I've been working on it ever since and hope to get it in the water in the next month or so...

    shocking modded tin

I was there yesterday with my 9 year-old son! It was amazing how crowded it was. We fished in the pond area they had set up. Nobody was really catching much and it was shoulder-to-shoulder near the registration stand, so we walked to the far side corner which was empty and away from the...

    Durable paint for interior?

I second this. I painted the inside of my 14' deep-V with Rustoleum Topside (battleship grey) last summer. I was afraid it wouldn't be durable, but I've found it to be hard, tough, and it takes a lot to scratch it. Great bang-for-the-buck IMHO.

What size (group #) battery for trolling motor?

Wow, that's impressive! Is that just slow-trolling, or a combination of trolling and motoring between fishing spots?

What size (group #) battery for trolling motor?

I just compared the Sears Platinum AGM group 31 to the Cabelas group 30 AGM. They both claim 205 minutes of reserve capacity (RC), but the Cabela's battery is over 10lbs. lighter and $80 cheaper.

What size (group #) battery for trolling motor?

That Sears battery is an AGM. (But yeah, it's expensive. Maybe the Cabela's group 30 AGM is good enough.)

What size (group #) battery for trolling motor?

Thanks for the tips, guys. I've kind of settled on this group 31 behemoth: https://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02850131000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 The reviews are good, and the consensus seems to be that it's a rebadged Odyssey battery. It's still pricey, but if it lasts at...

What size (group #) battery for trolling motor?

I have a new 12V, Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 55lb thrust TM, which has the "digital mazimizer" feature that supposedly improves battery life. I'll be using it on a 14.5" Grumman deep-V. Several of the lakes in my area are "electric only", so I plan on using the TM both for fishing and for main...

    Guide ons

Are these for "visual alignment" only, or can you bump into them without damage, use them in current to hold the boat, etc.? The PVC guide-ons I've seen online have disclaimers about "visual alignment only". I'd like to use them to help position the boat on the trailer (i.e. make contact with...

    Loading question

Thanks, but I was really asking about how to load with rollers, not unload. (Especially with no helpers). Unloading is _too_ easy with rollers
