New trolling motor, i-pilot worth it?

I pulled the trigger on a new 80lb Terrova w/ i-pilot. Considering what I just paid, your comment makes me cry.

New trolling motor, i-pilot worth it?

The Terrova looks amazing. I'm just worried that I may be tempted to knock over a bank so I can afford the $1400 price tag. Which suddenly equals paying an extra $700 over the Maxxum for the I-pilot capability, which who knows how much I'll actually use. Ugh, I really wish I had a buddy up here...

    1988 17' Sylvan Scout Conversion

So the boat is almost finished. I didn't take very many pictures. Will have to check my camera at home, upload and do a build review. But my buddy just texted me these pictures from our second trip out on the water with modified boat. Figured I'd put them up with a little bit of additional...

New trolling motor, i-pilot worth it?

So I'm in the market for a new trolling motor. I'm using an old motorguide 762V (62 pound 24V) foot-controlled bow-mount trolling motor that I bought used off craigslist for $150. My previous bow mount was a Minn Kota 36lb All-Terrain, which I preferred the foot pedal compared to the...

multibank onboard charger (2 or 3 bank)?

Thanks for the replies. I ordered the 3 bank charger. The trolling motor is hardwired (no plug). I'll still probably put a battery disconnect switch between the two batteries for extra piece of mind when trailering the boat, knowing that my trolling motor isn't going to turn on.

multibank onboard charger (2 or 3 bank)?

I'm looking at purchasing a NOCO Genius 2 or 3 bank charger. https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GEN2-On-Board-Battery-Charger/dp/B003JSJS5I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332729296&sr=8-2 https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GEN3-On-Board-Battery-Charger/dp/B003JSO1X2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332729296&sr=8-1 My...

Cheap sorce for new keel rollers?

Yeah, my nearby Walmart's don't have them. Going to make a run out to Gander Mountain this week. I think they stock them.

    4.8 x 12 ?

My boat trailer uses the 5 lug, which allowed me to use the heavier rated 5.3x12 6 ply tires w/rims for the same price but I don't have enough miles on them to speak to longevity. However, I've got tons of miles on my Harbor Freight folding utility trailer with the 4.8x12 tires with 4 lug rims...

Cheap sorce for new keel rollers?

Anyone got a cheap source for new keel rollers? All of mine are dry rotted to the point the boat is tearing through them. Thanks in advance.

    4.8 x 12 ?

I replaced mine with new pre-mounted tires/rim combo from harbor freight. Use a 20% off coupon that you can get almost anywhere for a cost of $44 each. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-inch-spare-tire-and-rim-44144.html

    Deciding on a fish finder?

Since I mainly fish electric only lakes, keeping the speed under 6mph shouldn't be too tough.

Bought the most important thing for my boat

This may be an unpopular response, but maybe it will help someone in the future. Also below are some links for tips for fishing with kids and they agree with what I state below. I now advise friends to stay away from the character rod and reels. They would be great for playing around the...

    Deciding on a fish finder?

Thanks River, you just helped me make the decision to pull the trigger on a sidescan fishfinder. I checked the difference in the units and agreed with your assessment. So I purchased the same unit HB 798ci SI (not HD). Hoping the sidescan helps to pickout cover as I don't know many of the...

    1988 17' Sylvan Scout Conversion

Definitely will do. I already know I have a small leak from the bow area. Saw it when we pressure washed it out. I plan to put the trailer up on jack stands and jacks to keep weight off wheels while putting water in the boat. How full do most people add water when leak checking? In a 17' boat...

    1988 17' Sylvan Scout Conversion

First let me take a minute and thank everyone for the previous posts and insights provided by this website. The saga that follows next is my conversion of 17' 1988 Sylvan Scout. This mod is being done on fairly tight budget. So if you see me cutting some cost corners, please keep that in mind...

    Towing with sedans

Yep, I sometimes get some strange looks when I'm towing my boat or hauling back building supplies from Lowe's on my utility trailer. Simple fact is you don't need a big diesel dually pickup to tow around a couple hundred pound aluminum boat. I'd have no fear pulling my 12' SeaNymph thru the...

    Towing with sedans

My current rig a 1968 12' SeaNymph, I pull with my 2010 Toyota Prius. Have yet to have any problems, towing, launching or recovering. I picked up my new boat this past week, a 1988 17' Sylvan Scout tinny with 25hp outboard (pics and mod to come soon) and towed it 1.5 hours to get it home...
