    The Dubs 14/36 Project

Mostly, and it is awesome. I have some winter work to do on it to wrap it up: plumb the livewell, hinges, etc. But she has been fishing a ton. I put in a boat launch on the water so that I don't have the trailer sitting at the waters edge all the time. Pretty simple, just two bunks and a...

Bought a 14' starcraft fixer uper!

I found gel paint stripper and the pressure washer to work the best, but that's not going to do any good against that bed liner. DD

    The Dubs 14/36 Project

Swamp, I used 2x3s for frame support (I think 2x4s are overkill, some would argue that 2x3s are overkill); 3/4 ply for decking; and 1/4 ply for walls. You can see from the pictures that it still isn't drafting too much water. I was impressed with the stability, rocking the boat back and forth...

Possum Marine -- highly recommend them, very competitive prices.

Couldn't wait any longer, I had to take her out on her maiden voyage despite her carpetless hatches.

    16ft grumman side console

I went with the 2x3 option and am convinced it was the correct thing to do on my project. DD

my first MOD. '96 16ft alumacraft

I bought carpet from boatcarpetsales off of ebay. Fairly impressed with the quality thus far, much better than the Lowes/Home Depot option. It's still going in so it hasn't yet stood the test of time, but the look and feel has made me a believer. DD

Thanks for the complements, friends. Yes, we have had quite a bit of rain in the last month, it has been nice. DD

    flotation pod question

Pretty sure that the Styrofoam isn't going to add to the buoyancy; it sounds like that is your question. The only reason to use Styrofoam on a boat is to provide buoyancy should the boat go wrong-side-down. So by adding Styrofoam you are actually detracting from the provided buoyancy provided...

    The Dubs 14/36 Project

In keeping with my recent tradition and summer pace... here is my every 2 month post. Progress continues, I'd like to pick up the pace and get it done in the near future; possible catch a fishing day before it gets too cold. Thus far the plan has come together very well, no complaints or...

    The Dubs 14/36 Project

Way too hot, since I work on the boat in the day and earn a paycheck at night my progress has been a bit stiffled. Maybe i should quit being such a wuss, suck it up and get some work done. Doubles

    The Dubs 14/36 Project

SHE FLOATS!!! What a relief; good stability at that seat height for calm waters. Zero complaints with the test run. Time to start cutting carpet and hatches. Here's the recent progress: Doubles

    14' Low Budget Klamath!

I dig this project; love what you have done. The one pending question is what do you consider low budget, it looks like you've gotten some great deals. Looks awesome, Doubles

2012 Crestliner Deck and Siderail Build

Spangler, I would stay away from PT completely. What are you using 2x6s for? That seems like a ton of weight to be adding to a 1436. I'm using 2x3s on my build and it's plenty strong enough. I resize my photos in paint and then post them in here... seems to work well. I look forward to...

12ft early 70's jon boat... "Buckshot"

Surf, Where'd you get your seat pedestals? How tall are they? How's the stability of the boat at that height? Thanks buddy -- keep up the good work. Doubles

    The Dubs 14/36 Project

Surf, I got them both off of E-Bay after extensive searching -- do a search for Plano 974 for the tackle boxes; the livewell tank came from the greatlakesskipper. I have been watching your build, I dig it. Semper Fi, Doubles
