    Loading a 12ft

The ramp idea wold work. Maybe you could take a 2 x 4, mount a wheel on it then cut the other end to wedge in the handles(if it has them) on the transom and roll it right up on the ramps. Welcome aboard, and great score on the free boat.

Well, we have have been hit with some pretty cold weather and about 8 inches of snow over the last few weeks. The weather broke today and I finished up stripping everything. I'm all set for primer. We should hit 55 degrees here on Sunday, so I'll be shooting it midday to take advantage of the...

    Primer

Hi guys, Well I've got my boat down to bare metal and have been looking for Self etching primer. I can only find it in a spray can. I really wanted to roll it on, I will be rolling on the paint, not the best way but I don't have a gun, and spray cans won't give me the finish I'm after. Are you...

Trolling Motor Advice Generator on Board

I can do 3 mph with my 1800 lb fiberglass center console for a long time no problem. I probably get about 5 mph in my 200 lb 14 foot alum vee. Welcome to the site.

    Newbie With Some Questions

At least you know that the boat was registered at one time from the numbers on the bow. I've had pretty good luck with the DMV here in Connecticut as long as you are patient. I would take some pics of the boat, or better yet, take the boat with you and head over to DMV. Tell them the truth about...

Well, I have the hull about 98% stripped. I worked on it last weekend for a few hours, and today for another few, its actually coming out much better than It though it would. I have a little bit more to do in hard to reach corners and such but I'm basically done. I figure another two hours and I...

    I need some help

I'm another CT guy. It can be tough to find what you are looking for around here but be patient. Keep checking craigslist. I found mine after about 2 weeks of waiting. I ended up with a modified vee, 14 ft. Almost exactly what I was looking for. I'm not sure where you are, but don't be afraid to...

post pic of your family member TINBOATERS

Here's my wife with a nice 36 inch, 24 pound Striper she caught this summer. It wasn't from the tinboat, but it could have been, we were fishing in about 3 feet of water right off the beach working a pod of bunker that was getting slaughtered by Stripers and Blues.

Headed out this afternoon to try and get some sanding done. Well, it didn't go as well as expected. This inside was pretty easy, the ouside is a problem. Well, it seems that the boat has about 4 coats of paint on it and it is bonded pretty good. I've been using a 8" disc sander with 36 grit pads...

    Paint question

I've read that it is dangerous, and that its actually zinc phosphate now that they sell. I haven't been able to find either yet. I'd like to paint it like Evattmans, blue on top and white or grey below he water line, BUT, my 5 year old son, and wife love green, so it will be the green and white...

    Paint question

Zinc Chromate sounds like the way to go. I have it down to bare meral in most area's so I would imagine it will stick pretty well.

    Paint question

Hi Guys, Still working on my project: https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5804 I should have it stripped down to bare metal almost everywhere soon. I won't be spraying, I'm thinking of a smooth roller to get a good finish. What should I use to prime and paint? Before I really...
