    F%@&ing no spill gas jugs

I have a small outboard. I hated having refill the motor because my gas can was slow and hard to control. I got this can at my True Value hardware, it is a lttle pricey but great. I just push the button, my motor fills almost immediately, automatcally stops when full, I release the buton and...

    Semi-V Trolling motor placement

It works for me. I have a safety cable on mine because the motor is more prone to being knocked loose because the mounting bracket is perpendicular to the line of travel. It looks like you might even move the motor more midship to be easier to reach or at least consider a big foot switch so you...

    Just Downloaded Windows 10

I give up. After weeks of irritating ads on my laptop for Windows 10, I finally upgraded. I figured that one day soon, MS would shut me down because I was still using Windows 7 and I would be stuck having to pay for 10. Besides their ads were slowing down my system. It was not as bad as I...

SAVE your boat from sinking, use WAX RING from a toilet!

I understand that the melting temperature of wax rings is around 160 degrees. It starts to sag before that. I assume the reason more toliets don't leak in the heat is that the water in the bowl helps dispate the heat. It suprised me that bee's wax melts at 91 - 97 degees. Those little burgers...

    dead battery?

I find a cheap hydrometer from the auto parts store gives me a better reading on the battery than the volt meter.

    Just Downloaded Windows 10

I doubt that my Microsoft Office 2003 or anything else that I have would work with 10. I remember when I use to do this for a living, now I believe in a cartoon that I read this week. 90% of our problems are created when we push the send button. I'll use Windows 7 for as long as they will let me.

    North Central Texas Lakes

Lake level from 14 ft low to 12 ft high and today the gates are closed with the lake at normal level. Ramps open all over the lake and the fishing is getting better. All since the first of May.

    roostertail from transducer

I set my transducer so the seam in the transducer body is in line with the bottom of the boat. That's how it was pictured in the instructions that came with it, no problems. I have an adjustable mounting and if I set it lower, the rooster tail starts. The same results when I use it on friends'...

    Cleaning carb

I have been meaning to post this link for people like me who know very little about outboard carbs. https://forums.iboats.com/forum/engine-repair-and-maintenance/engine-frequently-asked-questions-faq/250235-carb-cleaning-instructions First I tried to short cut the steps, like a complete...

Life lesson learned, please read boaters.

A friend went home to a class reunion to learn that 3 of his town's leaders had drown and none of the 3 had on vests. Now my friend keeps a PDF in the driver's seat with the kill switch lanyard attached to it. The PFD goes on before the motor starts. My awaking was sliding down a slick bank...

    Trolling motor shaft length

Be careful with your motor mount and keep it as low on the gunnel as possible. My bow on a semi v is high but the prop on comes out of the water with passing boat wakes.

Ventiliation Blower or just a vent? USCG Requirements

We use to drill holes in the soffits of houses and insert these vents. I think they are too small for house but maybe about right for your boat if you use about three of them low and three high...

UPDATE: This could be coming to your state soon

in the late 60s, a bill passed the Senate in California requiring seat belts on motor cycles. it came up for a vote in the lower house and was sent back to a committee to die. This bill fell into the same category. Target the permit and licensing processes. Require signage at all boat ramps...

    Inflatable PFD's?

My inflatable can be manual or automatic. It takes a few minutes to change the setup, so I have it configured as manual and carry the automatic change over kit in a plastic plastic bag, in a pocket on the vest. I can change it over if I feel the need. On sale, there was not that much...
