Yep, bought a new cap with a screw on top and it was open so the tank could get air while it was running.

Thank you for the response, I have come to the same conclusion and was planning on rebuilding the current one with a OEM rebuild kit. If this is not the fix it certainly won't hurt it any.

Yes, we wanted to open it up to provide as much room as possible. It was fun and took me a couple of weeks to complete. This boat is just used for fishing for mainly two people.

No wires coming off the starter but there is a terminal to connect a wire. So I ran a hot line to the battery and the starter spun up. But it does not have enough power to turn the motor over without the solenoid. I searched for the solenoid online to find out what it looked like but still can...

Well, can someone just tell me where the solenoid is located? I have pulled the starter off but did not see anything that looked like a solenoid maybe it is also missing not sure. Can you help me locate it? Thanks

Yea, it is missing along with all of its wiring. I know where it is suppose to be but it is gone. I'm hoping to wire in a new switch through the solenoid. But need some help understanding the wiring coming out of the solenoid and just where the original was wired in. Thank you for you comment.

Well it is completed so I thought I would post some pics for everyone. I added some square tube bracing not sure needed it but it makes me feel better knowing it is their. In this build I removed the two rear bench seats. Hope to get it out on the water real soon.
